Ancient Love Poetry showcases amazing CGI in first trailer

The best CGI I’ve seen since 2018’s Ashes of Love. Phenom Films was responsible for the post-production of films Mojin: The Lost Legend and Ne Zha.

To be honest, I’m probably going to check out the first couple of episodes of Ancient Love Poetry for the special effects alone. Starring Zhou Dongyu and Xu Kai, the drama will focus on the 10,000+ year romance between two powerful deities and will stream on Tencent next year. [Extended Synopsis]

September and October are traditionally the most high-quality fashion covers, but it seems like November is way, way better this year. Perhaps because the magazines don’t feel so pressured to have the biggest (safest) names bound by restraints, November covers so far are so much more modern in aesthetics.

Zhou Dongyu, Liu Haoran’s Moses on the Plain releases first teaser

Moses on the Plain 平原上的摩西 is produced by art house director Diao Yinan (Wild Goose Lake), and stars acclaimed young film actors Zhou Dongyu and Liu Haoran in the leading roles.

While probing into a taxi driver’s murder case, detective Zhuang Shu (Liu Haoran) discovers that his childhood friend Li Fei (Zhou Dongyu) is somehow involved, and that he may also have been a witness.

Zhou Dongyu, Yi Yangqianxi’s Better Days sweeps the Hong Kong Film Awards

Soul Mate director Derek Tsang’s coming-of-age crime film Better Days won a whopping eight awards at the 39th Hong Kong Film Awards, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenwriters, Best Actress, Best New Actor (Yi Yangqianxi), Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design and Best Original Theme Song.

Best Actress winner Zhou Dongyu is now one step closer to achieving the grand slam of Chinese cinema (Golden Rooster / Golden Horse / HKFA), a feat that has only been accomplished by Zhou Xun and Zhang Ziyi.
