Zhang Zhehan, a breakthrough star thanks to Word of Honor, is set to say goodbye to a career in the entertainment industry after previous Instagram posts showing him posing inside the controversial Yasukuni Shrine and attending a friend’s wedding at Nogi Shrine were shared online.
The actor was supposed to star in military film Formed Police Unit 维和防暴队, but it seems like the producers will either edit the character out of the story or find an actor to replace him.
“Only those who have not seen the world want to be a hero. Those who have knows every stroke of theword hero is written with blood, if not their own then that of others. I’m past the days when I want to be a hero. I’m just a wanderer among the world. What do you want to be? “ “Let them have their gathering of heroes. For a wanderer among the world, you and I suffice for me.”
– Zhou Zishu and Wen Kexing, the leads of Word of Honor
Word of Honor 山河令 is super shippable and closer to boy’s love than bromance, but it’s also one of the best wuxia series recently. The storytelling is the closest I’ve seen to Jin Yong in a long time, and the two leads are solid Gu Long lead material. While the rest of the world fights over the key to a cave full of wuxia secrets, our two lovebirds alone have no interest in what’s in the cave. One just wants to be left alone, while the other just want to watch the world burn.
Word of Honor(previously A Tale of the Wanderers) has released its first trailer, and after watching it I have no idea what the main plot is. Starring Zhang Zhehan, Gong Jun and Zhou Ye, the 36 episode drama is premiering tonight. within the next couple of days on Youku.
Edit: The series will begin streaming tonight at 6pm CN time. Members can watch 1 episode a day (4 tonight) and pay to watch in advance beginning March 19th.
Next year has dozens of bromance dramas hoping to make the next big ship, and they’re already competing for fans. Three had pretty high-quality leaks today, including Fan Chengcheng and Wang Anyu’s Run Freely, Tan Jianci and Chen Zheyuan’s Winner is King, and Zhang Zhehan and Gong Jun’s A Tale of the Wanderers. All three are actually kind of cute, and I’m hoping at least one of the bromance dramas next year will be good.
Fan Chengcheng and Wang Anyu has a cute snowball fight for Run Freely:
The Blooms at Ruyi Pavilion 如意芳霏 stars Ju Jingyi and Zhang Zhehan as leads who can foresee the future through dreams. After realising that the heroine would suffer a tragic death, they join hands to try and change their destiny.
The 40 episode drama releases 2 episodes every Wed-Fri beginning tonight (21st).
What does August 2020 look like for your favorite Chinese actors and singers? Here’s a preview of what they’ll be up to based on the schedules put out by some of their workshops. Schedules are based mostly on how much I like their aesthetics.
