Weibo Wednesday: September 23, 2015

This is less of a Weibo Wednesday update and more of round-up of a bunch of celebrities who announced they were dating (or in one case, married) and whom we couldn’t bother devoting an entire post to. Let me know if there are any celebrities you’d like an update from, because the Weibosphere has been a little dry lately, tbh.

Chen Xiao dating Michelle Chen

Michelle Chen dating Chen Xiao

Whether you loved or hated The Romance of the Condor Heroes (神雕侠侣), you gotta admit that the way leads Chen Xiao and Michelle Chen went public with their real-life relationship is pretty cute.

Chen Xiao: There will be a day when you will share my surname.

Fan Bingbing and Li Chen announce relationship

The biggest news this week? Fan Bingbing and Li Chen announcing last Friday that they’re in a relationship. The two got close while filming The Empress of China (武媚娘传奇), though they didn’t portray a couple in that drama. This is the first time in her 19-year-long career that Fan Bingbing has publicly admitted that she was dating someone.

Their fairly low-key approach to announcing that they were dating — they simply uploaded a photo of them on Weibo with the caption “Us” — has been replicated throughout the Weibosphere in the few days since. Most of the usage has been tongue-in-cheek, such as Jiro Wang with the Incredible Hulk and a random netizen who somehow got actor Lee Pace to hold up fake marriage certificates with her.

Anyway, congratulations to Fan Bingbing and Li Chen, and I hope they don’t let all the rumors about their past relationships drag them down.

Wang Leehom for L'Officiel Hommes

If there’s anything better than one Wang Leehom, it’s four Wang Leehoms. Here he is poking fun at himself in a recent photoshoot for L’Officiel Hommes.

You! You! You! It’s not polite to point like that!

Leehom also randomly started posting sheet music for his songs, starting with “Your Love” (你的愛), the title track from his new album. If you play violin, viola, cello, or bass, and have been dying to learn how to play his music, check out the link!

Chen Xuedong on Grade One reality show

Celebrities plus cute kids is always a plus, right? Hunan TV recently began broadcasting a new reality show called Grade One (一年级), in which actor Chen Xuedong and actress Song Jia are put in charge of a new first-grade class. Watch the show on Hunan TV’s YouTube account.

Me with my mouth full of plastic Mandarin*, I’m also intoxicated. Is Grade One fun to watch?

* “Plastic Mandarin” is a way of referring to Mandarin that is heavily influenced by the Hunan dialects.

How many wax dummies of Nicky Wu do we need? Well, I’m not complaining, even though the dummy doesn’t even look that much like him… as long as they give us Bu Bu Jing Qing (步步惊情) when they said they would. Just twenty days away, everyone!

You think you’re great because you look like Nicky Wu? If you keep staring at me, I’ll have you dragged out and……… arranged properly.

Weibo Wednesday: September 18, 2013

The big news these past two weeks was obviously Faye Wong and Li Yapeng‘s divorce, a topic that continues to trend on Weibo. I don’t have much to say about it, except that I was not expecting it at all. But even a divorce can’t cover up the happiness of marriage, and we were lucky to get not one, but TWO celebrity weddings in the first half of September!

First up are actor He Ziming and Super Girl He Jie, who wowed us with their proposal, their wedding photoshoot, and now their actual wedding ceremony. The two of them tied the knot on September 12th, and their wedding photos are absolutely gorgeous. Check out these two photosets, courtesy of Nice Wedding, for some ideas for your own wedding! ;)

Today, we happily got married! After we came down, friends asked me if I was tired. To tell the truth, I was so happy that I’d forgotten everything else. The two people who went through the most difficulties these past two months actually wasn’t us, but all of the employees and our friends in the media. On behalf of me and my wife, we thank everyone, as well as the friends who could and couldn’t make it! Thank you all for your blessings, because only with you as your witnesses could our wedding seem especially meaningful! In short, engraved in my memory and heart, thank you.

A 54-foot-tall inflatable duck arrived in Hong Kong earlier this month, though it unfortunately had to be deflated after a while due to strong winds. It’s all JJ Lin‘s fault.

I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you

Ah well, at least he put up this really cute post to celebrate Mother’s Day:

Eddie Peng has been enjoying major success with his movies in the past two years: LOVE (爱), Tai Chi 0 (太极1), Tai Chi Hero (太极2), and Cold War (寒战) all surpassed 100 million at the box office, and at last count, A Wedding Invitation (分手合约) brought in 180 million RMB in sales and is expected to reach the 200 million mark.

Apart from having the Midas Touch at the box office, it seems as though Eddie might have another superpower. Did Eddie travel back in time to help shape U.S. politics by becoming one of Barack Obama‘s high school basketball teammates?

Outlook Magaine: #Old Photo# Obama and his teammates (1977)
Fan: @Eddie Peng, are you sure that’s not you on the bottom left corner?
Eddie Peng: Yep, that’s me.

Unfortunately, no one else in this week’s Weibo Wednesday seems to have developed any awesome superpowers, but that’s okay, we love them anyway.

Guo Jingming may be super busy with directing the Tiny Times film, but he’ll never be too busy to post pretty pictures of himself on Weibo. Unfortunately, he might have to reconsider doing selcas, hehehe.

My arms are too short…. Originally, I wanted to take a photo with more of the scenery….

Top Combine’s 1st Album “Qi Tian Da Sheng”

I’m putting this up here because it’s an AMAZING album with contribution from all the five members which is so rare for a boyband’s first album. If they keep up the improvement since their first EP these kids will be amazing. Top Combine’s Ma Xueyang composed and wrote  four tracks, and the other four members each wrote lyrics for a song. You can tell they put a lot of effort into this, and there’s a good variety of songs, from ballads to fast tracks.

Please support them if you like the album and buy it!

Tracks starting with track three (because most people have heard the first two tracks). I’d listen to all the songs though because they’re all good.

Track 3 Guang Mang – Composed by Ma Xueyang about the friendship of the five members

The nine other tracks below. All thanks to PrescitedEntity@yt.
