Lu Yang is fast becoming one of my favourite up-and-coming directors thanks to the Brotherhood of Blades film series, and his short videos for Sina’s Best Performance 最美表演 series are the best of the lot.
Huang Xuan’s character loses his wife (Zhao Liying) to illness, though she returns to their home one last time in spirit:
Seven Versions of Myself is the official remake of Korean drama Kill Me, Heal Me and stars Zhang Yishan as a man with seven personalities. Cai Wenjing (Above the Clouds) plays a first year psychiatry resident and his love interest. Zhang Xiaoqian (Ode to Joy) plays her twin brother, and Gao Taiyu (Xuanyuan Sword: Clouds of Han) rounds out the main quartet as the hero’s cousin and main rival.
The 34 episode drama premieres on December 13th, and will release two episodes every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 10pm (Tencent).
Now this is a drama where viewers won’t have to worry about awkward acting – A-list veteran Zhang Jiayi (White Deer Plain) and talented child-star-turned-grownup Zhang Yishan (Ten Miles of Spring Scenery Can’t Compare to You) are confirmed to star in the upcoming drama Uncle and Youth 大叔与少年.
The new coming-of-age drama is titled Ten Miles of Spring Scenery Can’t Compare to You 春风十里不如你 and stars Zhang Yishan (Yu Zui) and Zhou Dongyu (Love & Life & Lie) as medical school students growing up in 1990s Beijing.
Chong Er’s Preach 重耳传 has started filming. Starring Wang Longhua, Zhang Hanyun, Han Chaeyoung, Purba Rgyal, and Zhang Yishan, I still wish for a drama that would better emulate the dress code for the era based on what we know already, although I understand it is hard since the farther you go back, the less evidence there is to work with.
More character posters and (WARNING!) spoilers at the bottom of the post.
The remake of the popular Korean drama Kill Me, Heal Me is titled Seven Versions of Myself 柒个我, and has confirmed rising actors Zhang Yishan (Yu Zui) and Cai Wenjing (So Young) as the leads.
