I am loving all the trailers for The Day of Becoming You, an iQiyi rom-com that focuses on the fish-out-of-water scenarios when a superstar (Zhang Xincheng) body-swaps with an entertainment reporter (Liang Jie). If this setup is going to last for at least half the show, I think I’ll be in for the ride.
The drama will be English-subbed on iQiyi beginning tomorrow at noon (June 17th 12pm CN time).

The Heart of Genius 天才基本法 is the drama that every Asian parent stereotype wishes that their kids would watch. Lin Zhaoxi (Zhang Zifeng) is a college student who has always regretted not pursuing her mathematical dreams like her father always wanted. After writing down a physics equation, she finds herself in a parallel universe where she is her past self, but this time she’s an orphan. Using her years of experience in mathematical competitions, she again joins the math team with the help of her “father” who no longer knows her. She befriends her idol, the genius Pei Zhi, who pushes her to discover her own inner genius.
Directed by Shen Yan (My Best Friend’s Story) and based on the popular novel of the same name, the series just announced it will star Zhang Zifeng and Zhang Xincheng alongside Lei Jiayin.
What can I say – Youku loves Priest. After the online popularity of Guardian and Word of Honor, the streaming platform will be adapting two more of the author’s novels.
Crime drama Light the Darkness 深渊 is an adaption of Priest’s Silent Reading and stars Zhang Xincheng as Fei Du, a nouveau riche with low morals who is found to be involved with the serial murder cases in the most unexpected ways. Fu Xinbo costars as police inspector Luo Wenzhou, while Chen Zhuoxuan plays detective Lang Qiao. The 35 episode crime thriller comes from the producer of The Untamed, and began filming a few days ago.

First up is Zhang Xincheng and Liang Jie’s The Day of Becoming You 变成你的那一天, a drama that focuses on the shenanigans that occur when a popular male idol and a paparazzi swap bodies. The drama comes from writer Wang Xiongcheng, the second writer of hit dramas Find Yourself and Go Ahead.
Republican drama The Justice 光芒 stars Zhang Xincheng (Go Ahead) as a young man from an ordinary background who has worked extremely hard to stabilise himself in the finance industry. Somehow he ends up marrying a banker’s daughter Lizi (Cai Wenjing), and the two eventually fall in love and even found a bank together.
Go Ahead comes from the writer of popular rom-com Find Yourself and stars Tan Songyun, Song Weilong and Zhang Xincheng as unrelated siblings who are raised by two dads.
Symphony’s Romance is a remake of Japanese drama Nodame Cantabile, and stars Zhang Xincheng and Lin Yun in the leading roles. [Extended Synopsis]
The 40 episode drama airs 2 episodes Sun-Thurs and 1 episode each on Fridays and Saturdays on Hunan TV.
