Novoland: Eagle Flag is a show that attempts to chronicle the journey of three young heroes who go from naïve youngsters to rulers in their own right. I say attempt only because at the time of writing this review, the one character that seems to be getting a proper and logical growth arc is Ji Ye (Chen Ruoxuan), and even his arc is written in such a way that the character takes one step forward and two steps backward. Lv Guichen (Liu Haoran) is still the just and benevolent savior, though his resurrection should help drive the character forward. That being said, I still find the show riveting enough to watch every single episode, which doesn’t happen very often these days.(more…)
I don’t usually post these type of patriotic films since they’re usually just bad films, but the trailer for this actually looks really good. Me and My Motherland 我的我的祖国, a film celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China in October, consists of eight parts separately shot by eight directors, ranging from veterans like Chen Kaige to rising talents like Wen Yan. Here’s what we know of the cast so far for each part:
- Guan Hu (Mr. Six)– Ou Hao, Huang Bo, Wang Qianyuan
- Zhang Yibai (Fleet of Time) – Zhang Jiayi, Zhang Ze
- Xu Zheng (Lost in Thailand) – Liu Tao, Xu Zheng
- Xue Xiaolu (Finding Mr. Right).- Du Jiang, Zhu Yilong, Gao Yalin
- Ning Hao (Let the Bullets Fly) – Ge You
- Wen Muye (Dying to Survive) – Tong Liya, Song Jia, Lei Jiayin
- Chen Kaige (Farewell My Concubine) – Liu Haoran, Chen Feiyu, Tian Zhuangzhuang
- Wen Yan (Angels Wear White) – Andy Lau, Zhuang Yinan
The 68 episode drama releases two episodes every Monday to Thursday on Zhejiang TV, while Youku/Tencent members get a 6 episode head start.
Probably the biggest fantasy drama since Tribes and Empires: Storm of Prophecy,, Novoland: Eagle Flag九州缥缈录 has finally announced a release date. The star-studded series stars Liu Haoran, Song Zu’er, Chen Ruoxuan, Jiang Shuying, Xu Qing, Zhang Fengyi, Wang Ou, Li Guangjie, and Chen Haoyu.
The series will air on June 3rd unless Novoland also starts a trade war with China.
Growing Pain 少年派 revolves around the relationship between three sets of families that each have a different set of issues. Zhang Jiayi and Yan Ni star as the worried parents of a high school student (Zhao Jinmai) who constantly scores below average grades.
Sun Li once again reigns supreme as the queen of Chinese dramas
Because the awards shows are government endorsed, the Flying Asparas are taken very seriously, and that means all nominees turn up, which makes the live stream that much more interesting. Red carpet round up and winners list below.
Novoland: Eagle Flag has released character stills, and I can’t take my eyes off the supporting cast. I need them as leads in a political intrigue drama of their own right now.
If anyone’s become a fan of Liu Haoran in ancient garb after Nirvana in Fire 2, then this will be the perfect follow-up drama when it airs in 2019.
Novoland: Eagle Flag 九州·缥缈录 is an upcoming ancient fantasy drama that will chronicle the rise of a generation of young heroes, and has confirmed Liu Haoran (Nirvana in Fire II), Chen Ruoxuan (From tonight, the path will be white) and Song Zu’er (Nezha in Lotus Lantern Prequel, Boyhood) as leads.
Hu Ge’s most anticipated drama since the end of Nirvana in Fire in 2015, Game of Hunting follows protagonist Zheng Qiudong’s journey from an idealistic entrepreneur to a skilled headhunter.
However, the path is far from smooth – his business fails after Bai Liqin’s (Zu Feng) death, and the teaser suggests he also spends time in prison after being betrayed by girlfriend (Jian Renzi). Thankfully Qiudong befriends wise inmate Liu Liangti (cameo by Sun Honglei), who points him in the right direction after he is released. The 45 episode drama begins airing tonight.
Drama opening theme (I’m intrigued by all the symbolism):
Now this is a drama where viewers won’t have to worry about awkward acting – A-list veteran Zhang Jiayi (White Deer Plain) and talented child-star-turned-grownup Zhang Yishan (Ten Miles of Spring Scenery Can’t Compare to You) are confirmed to star in the upcoming drama Uncle and Youth 大叔与少年.
