Tangren’s latest xianxia drama releases trailer

Humans vs. Magikarp, who’ll.win?

Tangren (Chinese Paladin + Chinese Paladin 3) has kind of been in a slump recently, but I still hope for the best for all their dramas. Their latest xianxia drama Linglong 玲珑 released its first trailers and I have mixed feelings. The CGI and sets look solid, but the lighting is horrible. Yuan Hong’s acting is a standout. I’ll have to see more to decide how I feel about the chemistry between the two young leads, Zhao Jinmai and Lin Yi.

Promo Round-up: The Rise of Phoenixes

The Rise of Phoenixes tells of the heart-wrenching romance between the descendants of two royal families who are destined to become enemies, and the political machinations that are bound to push them further apart.

The Rise of Phoenixes confirms air date, releases new previews and stills

Chen Kun and Ni Ni’s The Rise of Phoenixes has released two TV spots, a bunch of new stills, and also gotten itself a new native title of 天盛长歌 (lit. The Golden Age of Tiansheng). The 70 episode drama is confirmed to air as a daily drama from August 14th.

I am 95% confident the drama has a sad ending in store for us just based on the last line: “I swear upon my father’s grave that regardless of the circumstance I am in, I shall never marry Ning Yi.”

(The drama is using on-site recording, hence the lack of familiar dubbing voices) (more…)

Realm of Love: Long Ballad – thoughts?

… IMO, although the characters aren’t terribly original and some of the scenes are a bit of an eye-roll, I find that the majority of the plot follows a logical progression.  Characters have their flaws but at least there are times where they pay a logical price for their flaws as opposed to some dramas in the past where this didn’t happen and seemed to detract form the story for me.

Realm of Love: Long Ballad 秀丽江山 长歌行 has been airing for quite some time. Starring Ruby LinYuan HongKenny Kwan, Mao ZijunLi JiahangWang YuankeZong FengyanYu BoDai Junzhu, and Wang Yu, those who have been watching it, what are your thoughts so far?.
