Continue readingGuo Puyuan is one of those photographers whose every work feels like they should be on display in a museum. I only discovered him this year but he already has my top three favorite photoshoots of the year (Zhong Chuxi, Zhou Xun, and Ni Ni’s) .
His photos often have trace elements of surrealism, and his unique use of lighting creates a distinct 3D on 2D look to all his subjects.

Continue readingSoul Mate director Derek Tsang’s coming-of-age crime film Better Days won a whopping eight awards at the 39th Hong Kong Film Awards, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenwriters, Best Actress, Best New Actor (Yi Yangqianxi), Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design and Best Original Theme Song.
Best Actress winner Zhou Dongyu is now one step closer to achieving the grand slam of Chinese cinema (Golden Rooster / Golden Horse / HKFA), a feat that has only been accomplished by Zhou Xun and Zhang Ziyi.
