Mirror: A Tale Of Twin Cities, City of Streamer and more to premiere next week

Happy New Year! There’s plenty of dramas premiering over the next few days, so I thought I’d cover them all in the same post. Which ones are you looking forward to watching the most?

On a side note, I just started watching time-loop drama Reset, and it’s pretty good so far. It’s not the thriller I was expecting, though I do like how it spends time developing the backstories of the other bus passengers as well. Plus, it’s only 15 episodes long – what can go wrong? Try the first episode here.

Mirror: A Tale of Twin Cities 镜:双城
– 2 episodes every Sunday to Wednesday beginning Jan 16th on Youku, Tencent (WeTV)

The fantasy angsty romance drama stars Li Yifeng as King of the Seas who wants to lead his enslaved people to freedom. Chen Yuqi plays the queen of the noble Bai clan, and Zheng Yecheng costars as the crown prince of the ruling kingdom (and the third wheel).

Based on what has been released so far, it’s pretty apparent that they expect this to float on fanservice, fanservice, fanservice, and fanservice… because… you know… based on the stills below half the scenes are necessary to float a good story line…

Surprisingly the stills aren’t tacky to the point of scaring me away yet… that or my standards are just too low… XD

Someone who’s read the novel tell me they actually get married and the wedding scenes in the trailer aren’t just clickbait.

Han Lei lends his soulful voice to the theme song for Love is More Than a Word 识汝不识丁, which I kind of gave up on after the trailer but might watch given their good taste in theme songs. Meanwhile, may I recommend Han Lei’s other famous BL song,  Who will remember you (link is not fanvideo but actual snippet of drama).

While there’s still no news of a streaming date yet, the production team and leads have already started filming a “sequel”, ‘Till Death Tears Us Apart, a Republican-era drama based on the novel of the same name. The team’s also planning on a fantasy bl drama….
