Heroes in Harm’s Way 最美逆行者 dramatises China’s response to the virus outbreak in Wuhan, and will feature 7 x 2 episode shorts. Leading actors include Chen Shu, Yang Zhigang, Sa Rina, Li Yixiao, Xu Jiao, Kan Qingzi, Cheng Taisen, Niu Junfeng, Ma Tianyu, Su Qing, Han Xue, Zhang Ming’en and Xiao Yan.
The 14 episode anthology series premieres on CCTV-1 tonight. Another COVID-19 drama is also slated to air later this month.

KFC added bamboo shoots to their chicken sandwich just in case they weren’t Chinese enough.
After normalizing hanfu’s as everyday outfits in her latest drama Beyond the Lightyears and as appropriate red carpet wear, actress and hanfu advocate Xu Jiao is here to remind you that hanfu is also fast-food appropriate. The actress is a part of KFC’s latest campaign to appeal to Chinese fans with Chinese culture rather than foreign superiority, a rather new ad choice in China. KFC also partnered with the National Museum to bring elements of artifacts from the museum to their stores, including renovating over thirty locations around China to either celebrate hanfu or artifacts.
When someone commented on Weibo that hanfu 汉服 and hamburgers 汉堡包 don’t look right together, Xu Jiao responded : “They both belong to the han 汉 family, so why not? ”

Actress and hanfu aficionado Xu Jiao wore her first hanfu-styled dress to an international red carpet today at the “The Shape of Water” premier at the Venice Film Festival. I like how the dress doesn’t look too out of place but is clearly inspired by hanfu. The dress was designed by her friend and I want it.
The C-remake of Midnight Diner stars Huang Lei (A Love For Separation) as the owner of the late night restaurant, and will comprise of 24 heart-warming stories. The full cast list can be found here.

Ice Fantasy posters this week. What are your thoughts of the episodes released so far? Starring Feng Shaofeng, Ma Tianyu, Victoria Song Qian, Xu Jiao, Zhang Meng, Wang Duo, and Madina Memet… despite thinking that there are certain advances that have been made in terms of production, I have a really hard time actually sitting through this drama and resisting the urge to click through scenes once I reach my limit… >.<

Starring Feng Shaofeng, Ma Tianyu, Victoria Song Qian, Xu Jiao, Zhang Meng, Wang Duo, and Madina Memet, this is turning out to have some of the most diverse range of costume “looks” I have seen lately in a drama.

I swear Ice Fantasy’s promotion rounds have been going on since forever, so here’s to hoping it will live up to expectations when it airs on July 24th (2 episodes each on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday). Based on the bestselling novel by Guo Jingming, the adaption stars Feng Shaofeng, Victoria Song Qian, Ma Tianyu and Zhang Meng.
By the way they have been going with images, some should definitely consider an official calendar with pictures…
