I knew I had forgotten at least one movie in my previous post, and Wheat‘s one of them. It also opens on the 28th; My Fair Gentlemanhas some really stiff competition. This is the comeback movie of director He Ping, whose last movie was 2004’s well-received Warriors of Heaven and Earth.
Huang Jue is probably unknown to anyone who doesn’t follow Chinese dramas, but he gained a popularity boost this yearwith the series Qing Cheng Zi Lian. He’s always had some fame though. His last film was rock movie Air Diary with Xu Fei (yeah…I had no idea either, but I like the theme song). And I’m sure you know Fan Bingbing from a gazillion different things this year . I wonder if she is tired of shooting movies or photoshoots yet. Probably not. I wish I had her energy.
Trailer for wheat, a quote from Huang Jue on Fan Bingbing, and more pics behind the cut.
If only the distribution of Hunan TV's viewers was like this.
After taking over entertainment from CCTV, Hunan TV seems to also be gaining increasing responsibility in foreign affairs in the TV world as it hosts everything from the CCP-KMT party forum to Chinese competitions for foreigners.
First up is the more entertaining competition. Chinese Bridge is a collaboration with the Chinese national Hanban committee. The preliminaries are hosted in various countries around the world, with the top winners going on Hunan TV for the finals, where they’ll make many Chinese ashamed at their lack knowledge of their own culture. Present at the opening ceremony of Chinese Bridge are , of course, the five boys who bridged cpop and kpop and the four boys who hopefully will do even more for bridging Chinese entertainment and the rest of the world.
Edited #2 A second huge picture of Top Combine (Click for bigger). I’m officially jealous now. Wang Yuexin, Yu Haoming etc didn’t get such nice pictures.
Not only are there like a gazillion boybands in China now, but there are group company MVs! EE Media, the company behind the Supergirls, Superboys and anything affiliated with that, including Top Combine is having its own New Years MV with all of its singers (except Guo Jingming who most recently signed)
