Promo Round-up: The Blue Whisper

The Blue Whisper Part 1 tells of an angsty romance between spirit controller Ji Yunhe (Dilraba) and pretty merman Changyi (Ren Jialun) who gives his tail for legs. Part 1 ends with the leads misunderstanding each other, though from the trailer it seems like they’ll eventually work together again to defeat the tyrannical Princess Shunde (Guo Xiaoting). I didn’t like the previous merman-related drama (Mirror: Twin Cities), so hopefully this one is better.

The 22 episode drama premieres on Youku tonight at 6pm (CN time). Part 2 will run for 21 episodes and should follow shortly. Drama watching calendars included below the cut.

Luo Yunxi, Bai Lu reunite in upcoming xianxia romance Till The End Of The Moon

Luo Yunxi as Tantai Jin / Cang Jiumin / Mingye

Till The End of the Moon 长月烬明 is an upcoming fantasy xianxia romance drama, and stars Luo Yunxi, Bai Lu, Chen Duling and Deng Wei in the lead roles. These are the prettiest posters I’ve seen in a long while, and it seems like the art team got their inspiration from Buddhist Art from the Mogao Caves.

Dilraba, Ren Jialun begin filming fantasy romance The Blue Whisper

Part 1 of The Blue Whisper is titled Our First Encounter 驭鲛记之与君初相识 and stars Dilraba as Ji Yunhe, the most powerful demon controller in the valley. She is ordered by Princess Shunde to tame the beautiful merman Changyi (Ren Jialun) and have him do three things: speak the human language, transform the tail into a pair legs and stay absolutely loyal to the princess. Unfortunately, their difference in social status and race leads to several misunderstandings, and their romance takes a melodramatic turn.

Celebrity Schedules: Feb 2020 / Coronavirus Donation List

All dramas have ceased filming and work is sparse, so I’m going to use this opportunity to highlight the following celebrities for donating to efforts to contain the ongoing coronavirus outbreak. I know there’s a lot of uncertainties about whether donations are being properly used, but that doesn’t diminish the goodwill of the donators. If you chose to donate to anything, though, definitely do your homework and making sure that the money is actually well-spent.

The list is too long so I used google translate, feel free to leave corrections and additions in the comments.

Locked room mystery series pits Jin Shijia against Xiao Shunyao

I love how the first character of the title logo is shaped like a key.

Jin Shijia plays a locksmith recruited by the police to solve a series of locked-room mysteries in The Locked Room 上锁的房间, a loose adaptation of the  Kei Enomoto series .  Joined by police officers played by Chuo Ni and Chen Yilong, he’ll fight against  Xiao Shunyao in the latter’s first antagonist role.  The Youku exclusive  concluded filming this spring and is set for a  2019 release on Youku.

Trailer:

M.I.C. Tan Jianci, Xiao Shunyao sign acting deals with Wu Xiubo

Weird out by how brother-like the M.I.C. boys were, Wu Xiubo signed Tan Jianci and Xiao Shunyao on the spot to play his sons.

Wu Xiubo was such a big fan of his family in The Advisor’s Alliance that he signed management deals with all the main male characters.  That’s right, in addition to Wang Dong (who plays his brother and who you might remember opposite Dilraba in Diamond Lover),   Wu Xiubo’s two sons in the series –  M.I.C. boyband’s Tan Jianci and Xiao Shunyao- now have acting management deals!  Don’t worry, they’re still managed by Taihe music-wise.

During the press conference for the drama on June 8th, Wu Xiubo said that they had looked at many actors for the role of the brothers, but none of them had chemistry with each other.  Watching Jianci and Yaoyao eat before their audition, Wu Xiubo  was  struck by how close they were.  “Even by looking from the side, the way they ate and interacted with each other were so much like real brothers. I thought it was so strange,” Wu said.     He then gave them a script to read and hired them on the spot.  So happy to know that M.I.C. still loves each other (especially given the recent Top Combine fallout).

Following playing Sima Zhao,   Jianci stars as the Emperor to the Sima family,  Cao Pi , in  Tangren’s new Three Kingdoms drama.  Meanwhile, post his Sima Shi gig,  Yaoyao  is currently filming an idol drama with Fan Shiqi.

Congrats, boys! Now please go record your group album already. IT’S BEEN FIVE YEARS.

A kiss for you, a kiss for you, a kiss for all my sons!

M.I.C. makes your heart race with new MV

Don't drink and drive.

Jianci reminding you not to  drink and drive.

As the boyband with the most racecars per MV, M.I.C. boyband finally landed a car spokesperson deal with Lannia.    I’m Young and Possible (Although I keep wanting to sing “I’m Kim Impossible” )  is the third version of the song, following the album version and a magic school bus version .  The MV is so pretty that  I’ll forgive the fact that they haven’t released a new group dance song in three years.

In addition, Zhao Yongxin has recently released two other MV’s,  My Own Fault and duet Dying to See You, and Xiao Shunyao released a MV for his drama that may never air, 8848.
