Promo Round-up: The Legend of Haolan

Upcoming palace intrigue drama The Legend of Haolan stars Wu Jinyan as Li Haolan, a former noble lady of the Zhao state who is first a concubine to merchant-turned-politician Lv Buwei (Nie Yuan) before marrying the future ruler of the Qin state Ying Yiren (Mao Zijun).

The 63 episode drama will release two episodes every Saturday to Tuesday on iQiyi / MZTV beginning tonight. Members get an 8 episode head start.

Yin Tao plays Wu Jinyan’s boss in upcoming drama Standardized Life

Standardized Life 标化人生 is an upcoming workplace drama starring Wu Jinyan (Hear the Bells Ring on Shanghai Bund) as Zhang Xiaoyu, the plucky new assistant to Yin Tao’s (The Years You Were Late) Lin Rui, SW company’s smart and capable sales director and the most likely candidate to take over the position of leader from Shu Wanting (Liu Mintao).

The Story of Yanxi Palace is the most googled show of the year on Earth

All hail the Emperor.

Despite a large portion its audience using Baidu, The Story of Yanxi Palace 延禧攻略 is the most googled show of the year all over the globe. The tv series was the only Chinese name to make it on any of the lists on Google’s Top Searches of the Year released today.

The show has shot to fame its stars Wu Jinyan and Xu Kai, and re-launched  the careers of Nie Yuan, Qin Lan,  Charmaine Sheh, and most importantly producer Yu Zheng. After a successful online run, it received successful runs on TV in the mainland, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.  You can watch the hit show English subbed on Viki and Chinese subbed on Youtube.

Wu Jinyan, Nie Yuan reunite in Beauty Hao Lan

How can you say you’re in love if you haven’t ran through a busy street to escape a villain?

Riding on the popularity of The Story of Yanxi Palace, Beauty Hao Lan / Legend of Haolan 皓镧传 has secured a November 15th release date. The Yu Zheng-helmed palace intrigue reunites Yanxi stars Wu Jinyan and Nie Yuan. They’re joined by Mao  Zijun, Ning Jing, Tan Zhuo, Tong Mengshi and Wang Lin.

Stars in the sky for Elle Anniversary Event

Look at these beautiful people attending a party for Elle China’s 30th birthday party.  The event is somewhere up high in Shanghai, but it’s not like you can tell from the photos since they just used two fake skies as a backdrop.

Guests include  Ni Ni, Li Yuchun, Yang Mi, Tang Yan, Angelababy, Song Qian, Bai Baihe, Liu Wen, Zhang Zilin, Wang Junkai, Lin Yanjun, Mao Buyi, Xu Weizhou, and the casts of Meteor Garden, The Story of Yanxi Palace, and Ruyi’s Royal Love in the Palace. Wu Jinyan, Zhang Zhehan’s Zhaoge releases new trailer, stills to show off on-location scenery

Zhaoge is one of several stunning upcoming series shot on-location in Xinjiang. Others include Novoland : Eagle Flag, Ever Night: Dawn of the Empire, and Handsome Siblings.

Wow the cast of this Zhaoge 朝歌 has had done well since it started filming –   Li Yitong and Legend of the Condor Heroes,  Bai Yu in Guardian, Zhang Zhehan and Merxat in Legend of Yunxi, and then the current breakout hit of Wu Jinyan and Xu Kai in The Story of Yanxi Palace.

The Shang dynasty epic stars Wu Jinyan, Zhang Zhehan, Bao Jianfeng, Gillian Chung, Merxat, Xu Kai, Li Yitong, Puff Kuo, Jiang Yiyi, Hai Lu  , Bai Yu, Bai Lu, Chen Shu, Liu Min, Lian Lian, Deng Sha, Zhang Jianing, He Hongshan, and Liu Zhiyang.

Given their successes, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Zhaoge airing soon.
