Some of you have probably heard of the song “Descendants of the Dragon” (龙的传人), originally written by Hou Dejian and later covered by several artists including Wang Leehom. Well, it seems being a descendant of the dragon also means having a voracious appetite, as adorably depicted by Zhao Liying.
It’s Weibo Wednesday time! I didn’t pay much attention to this year’s Academy Awards, which took place on February 28, but it looks like quite a few Chinese celebs did. Here we have Li Yifeng congratulating Leonardo DiCaprio for finally winning a Best Actor award. In case you’re wondering what is going on, he’s spoofing a scene in The Revenant where Leo gets attacked by a bear.
In other Hollywood news, Li Yifeng was picked as an ambassador for the superhero movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which drops in the U.S. and in mainland China on March 25. However, I’m not entirely clear on what his being an ambassador entails. Yifeng also has two TV series — espionage drama Sparrow (麻雀) and xianxia drama Noble Aspirations (青云志) — expected to be released this year.
A belated Happy Chinese New Year to all of our beloved Cfensi readers! Who else stuffed themselves silly with delicious food? It looks like Ruby Lin did too, although I hope y’all had better food than pizza. (I mean, no offense to pizza, which I love, but it just can’t compare with good Chinese food.)
To say this Weibo Wednesday is a little overdue is a huge understatement, considering there’s a post dating back to Halloween LOL. But oh well, better late than never, right? Happy New Year to everyone, and let’s have a quick recap of the past two months.
Who is this cutie you’ve probably never seen? The answer is Tian Xinchen, the son of Tian Liang and the younger brother of Cindy Tian Yucheng. Wikipedia claims he was born on April 13, 2012, which would make him three years old, but that doesn’t explain why Tian Liang posted Xinchen’s birthday cake photo in early November.
Anyhoo, this is the first time (I believe) that we’ve gotten a look at Tian Liang’s son, so take a good look! He’s a real cutie.
Hello, everybody, let’s get to know one another! I am one in a family of four, and my most beautiful mother and sister prepared a cake for me. My ugliest father tried to steal the limelight from me, so I Photoshopped him out.
During this past round-up, our favorite celebrities celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival (aka the Moon Festival) and got up to some other shenanigans. Kicking us off is Tang Yan and her picture-perfect moon cake. She’s currently filming the movie Bounty Hunter (赏金猎人) and will follow that up with the drama The Princess Weiyoung (锦绣未央). As always, keeping busy.
If you follow any of the younger Chinese actors, you probably already know about this news: Zhang Han more or less announced that he was dating Gulinazha, his costar from the upcoming The Classic of Mountains and Seas (山海经之赤影传说). The Weibo post is just a photo of the two kissing in front of a passing bus, with a simple message saying “Rat loves Monkey” (referring to their zodiac animals) and tagging Gulinazha, but it’s a low-key and sweet way to go public.
The biggest news this week? Fan Bingbing and Li Chen announcing last Friday that they’re in a relationship. The two got close while filming The Empress of China (武媚娘传奇), though they didn’t portray a couple in that drama. This is the first time in her 19-year-long career that Fan Bingbing has publicly admitted that she was dating someone.
Their fairly low-key approach to announcing that they were dating — they simply uploaded a photo of them on Weibo with the caption “Us” — has been replicated throughout the Weibosphere in the few days since. Most of the usage has been tongue-in-cheek, such as Jiro Wang with the Incredible Hulk and a random netizen who somehow got actor Lee Pace to hold up fake marriage certificates with her.
Anyway, congratulations to Fan Bingbing and Li Chen, and I hope they don’t let all the rumors about their past relationships drag them down.
If there’s anything better than one Wang Leehom, it’s four Wang Leehoms. Here he is poking fun at himself in a recent photoshoot for L’Officiel Hommes.
You! You! You! It’s not polite to point like that!
Leehom also randomly started posting sheet music for his songs, starting with “Your Love” (你的愛), the title track from his new album. If you play violin, viola, cello, or bass, and have been dying to learn how to play his music, check out the link!
Kimi Qiao with a giant bear! He and Cruel Romance costar Huang Xiaoming recently showed up on Happy Camp, which ended up being one of the highest-rated episodes in recent years. You can also catch him romancing actress Xu Lu in the upcoming reality show, We Are in Love (我们相爱吧), a.k.a. the Chinese version of We Got Married.
Benefits are here! Sending you all… a little devil [literally, a bear child].
Hu Ge, who is currently filming for the suspense/spy drama The Disguiser (伪装者), shared a funny conversation with this cat. Keep in mind that the first character in “owl” (mao tou ying) is the same character for “cat” (mao).
Day 41 of The Disguiser—- Do you think that just because you won’t come down, that makes you an owl? Try flying, let me see.
