Two upcoming late-Republican/Pre-revolution dramas, The National Southwest Associated University and Us with Wang Hedi and Zhou Ye, and A Love Never Lost with Li Xian and Chun Xia, have both recently released stills.
It’s pretty rare to use popular young actors for this period, but the casting for both seem spot-on . Wang Hedi and Zhou Ye look perfect for the wide-eyed university students of the era, and Li Xian and Chun Xia are both very solid actors who can blend flawlessly into the era. Plus, this is Hong Kong Film Awards Best Actress Chun Xia’s first leading drama role, so I’m actually really interested in the two projects. Whose stills makes you want to watch their dramas?(more…)
A Love Never Lost 人生若如初见 is set against the backdrop of The Boxer Rebellion and stars Li Xian as Liang Xiang, an ambitious and educated noble recently returned from Japan. Chun Xia plays Qiu Hong, a forward-thinking noble lady who is travelling to Shanghai to escape an arranged marriage.(more…)
Astringent Girl 涩女郎 is the second adaption (the first being Pink Ladies 粉红女郎 back in 2003) of Zhu Deyong’s manhua of the same name, and stars Yin Tao (The Years You Were Late) as Wanrenmi, the most popular and attractive of the quartet.(more…)
Begin, Again 亲爱的新年好 stars Bai Baihe (Go Away, Mr. Tumor!, A City Called Macau) as the heroine who begins to find herself and start a new life with the help of young room-mate (Zhang Zifeng) and colleague-turned-love interest (Wei Daxun).
Directed by Peng Youlun (PhantaCity) and based off screenwriter Dingding Zhang’s novel Lonely in the City, the film is set for a Dec. 31st release.
Liu Haoran, Wu Lei, Li Yuchun, Cai Xukun, Yang Mi, Tong Liya, Han Geng, Kim Jaejoong, Zhai Tianlin, Yin Zheng, Gulnazar, Jing Boran, Zhou Dongyu, Xiao Zhan, Li Qin,
Wei Daxun Dong Li,etc. pose as if they were at a press conference for a Cosmo event. The photoshoot is probably one of the more interesting “event photoshoots” lately, although they didn’t even bother to change the color palette when they ripped off of a Ni Ni Gucci ad.
Who looked the best?
The trailer for supernatural Republican romance drama The Love of Hypnosis (previously Records of Nanyan Studio) features Liu Yifei as a mysterious perfume shop owner with a split personality. There’s the normal Lu Mansheng, and then there’s the second persona Ye Moluo, who seems to gain the upper hand in the latter half of the series, and has a love-hate relationship with male lead Ye Shen (Jing Boran).
Did anyone count how many kiss scenes they had?
The remake of acclaimed slice-of-life Korean drama Misaeng / Incomplete Life is titled Ordinary Glory 平凡的荣耀 (lit.), and stars Mark Chao (Midnight Diner) as Wu Kezhi, the workaholic team leader who has a strained relationship with his superior. Bai Jingting (Rush to the Dead Summer) plays Sun Yiqiu, the newbie office worker who is turned away by multiple employers due to the lack of a tertiary degree.
