Wuxia romance drama Tingxue Tower begins streaming tomorrow

Tingxue Tower stars Qin Junjie and Yuan Bingyan as members of the titular cult who lead the fight against the unorthodox sects. If the show follows the books, they’ll also have their own bitter romance, as distrust and betrayal breaks their relationship.

The series releases 2 episodes every Monday to Thursday on Tencent. Members get an 8 episode head start.

Wuxia series Tingxue Tower releases opening and ending MV’s

Super stylized and slick-looking, Tingxue Tower at least wins the award for the best-looking wuxia series of the year.

Wuxia series Tingxue Tower 听雪楼 just released its opening and ending themes by Mickey He. Starring  Qin Junjie (Summer’s Desire) and Yuan Bingyan (Ever Night) , the series is a torteous tale of a young woman’s attempt to avenge her parents in a battle that blurs together good and evil.  I hope the release of these means that it’ll be released sometimes soon.

Tingxue Tower releases bamboo forest stills

Are you in bamboo forest? Are you in a wuxia drama? You better watch out!

If you’ve seen Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon or House of Flying Daggers or many recent wuxia-ish dramas such as The Flame’s Daughter, you would know that bamboo forests are great places to pick fights. Here’s another set of posters for wuxia drama Tingxue Tower.  The giant logo is really the focus of this set more than either Qin Junjie or Yuan Bingyan.  But hey, if I had a cool logo, I would showcase it, too.  The character for tower, , has a tower in it and that’s pretty clever.

Tingxue Tower trailer is a tribute to last decade’s wuxia masterpieces

In an age filled with xianxia (fantasy wuxia) adaptations and re-adaptations of  wuxia classics, Tingxue Tower is a rare adaptation of a contemporary wuxia novel.

The rare contemporary wuxia adaptation Tingxue Tower 听雪楼 shows with its new trailer that it’s not just an attempt to revive the dying wuxia genre with a new story, but also seems to be a tribute to last decade’s highly-stylized wuxia films. The trailer has scenes reminiscent of the rain fight in Hero and the bamboo forest fight in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and definitely perks my interest.

Qin Junjie, Yuan Bingyan star in fantasy wuxia drama Tingxue Tower

Production is well underway for Tingxue Tower 听雪楼, the drama adaption of Cang Yue’s popular wuxia novel of the same name. Qin Junjie (Summer’s Desire) plays male protagonist Xiao Yiqing, while Yuan Bingyan (The Mystic Nine) costars as his love interest Shu Jingrong.
