Even though the Magnolia Awards tend to favor actors/directors/dramas in the Shanghai circle, it is the awards show I enjoy watching most because the winners are usually worthy recipients. By all accounts, The Thunder winning Best Drama and Best Screenwriter was probably the biggest surprise of the night. A Little Reunion, Joy of Life and The Longest Day in Chang’an also took home two awards each.(more…)
Some of you may recognise talented actress Tao Hong as the dragon maiden from rom-com Sunny Piggy 春光灿烂猪八戒 (2000), which also propelled her husband and actor-director Xu Zheng to fame, or as Ji Xiaofu in Heaven Sword Dragon Sabre 2003. As “Where are we going? Dad” becomes the cutest show of the year, celebrity dads are all expressing interesting in taking their “little monsters” on adventures around China. So far Li Yapeng (daughter with Faye Wong) , Yu Quan‘s Chen Yufan (son with Bai Baihe), Wen Zhang (daughter with Ma Yili), Lu Yi (daughter with Bao Lei), Julian Cheung (son with Anita Yuen), Xu Zheng (daughter with Tao Hong), and Huang Lei (daughter with Sun Li) have all indicated to the press that they would be interested in going future seasons if their kids agree.
Hunan TV plans for two seasons of the show next year. Which pairs would you like to see the most? Which ones are your favorites this season? I’m personally hoping that one of the seasons will be the currently pair and then one season the new pair.
