Shockwave 2 stars Andy Lau as a former bomb disposal technician who becomes the prime suspect in a terrorist attack. Sean Lau costars as the hero’s former colleague, while Ni Ni plays the chief inspector of the counter-terrorism unit and the hero’s ex-girlfriend.
The film premieres in Chinese theatres on December 24th.

An ambitious launch for Hong Kong-based special effects firm 天下一 One Cool, science-fiction disaster film Warriors of Future 明日战记 released its first official trailer (on top of a previous teaser trailer) recently. Directed by award-winning visual efects supervisor Ng Yuen Fai (Tai Chi Zero, Painted Skin), the film stars Louis Koo, Sean Lau, Carina Lau, Nick Cheung Ka-fai, and Tse Kwan-ho.

The year is almost a quarter over (I know!), but 2014 is a really exciting year for Chinese film and it would be a waste not to take a look at all the great stuff that’s going to be released soon. This year, as some have noted, will be the year of big director comebacks, from Red Cliff’s John Woo to Zhang Yimou and many others.
