Sinology Sunday: April 16, 2017

This week, we move past the Qing Dynasty and into the Republican era with Mr. Chen’s Chinese Photo Studio 陳先生的復古照相館.  Moving past this period will put us right up to the Modern Era and thus concludes our look though time.  Also, I apologize for the text in the middle of a few of the images.

Sinology Sunday: November 22, 2015

This week, we take a look into more Republican era-inspired clothing from Mr. Chen’s Chinese Photo Studio 陳先生的復古照相館.

Next week, we may do a loop-de-loop and start as far in the beginning as we can in the Chinese history timeline in terms of clothing and available pictures and then work our way to where we started in the Tang dynasty.  This coincides nicely with the release of a couple dramas such as Qin’s Moon and The Legend of Miyue.  Strap yourselves in, boys and girls.

Sinology Sunday: November 1, 2015

This week, we take a look into Republican era-inspired clothing from Mr. Chen’s Chinese Photo Studio 陳先生的復古照相館.  I find that some of the costuming in Republican era dramas tends to have gotten a bit out of line with the time period.  Hopefully these pictures help give a better feel for the standards and tastes of the era.  More pictures below the cut.
