Guo Shentong looks happy on her wedding Night; Liu Xiu seems to be unsure whether he bought everything on the grocery list Lihua gave him.
While we pine away for a good period drama, we were bored and left to our own devices and simply couldn’t resist… making our own drama from the stills of Realm of Love – The Long Ballad.
This story follows Wang Yuanke‘s Guo Shengtong, Ruby Lin‘s romantic rival, with the Emperor played by Yuan Hong.
Apologies for the lack of normal Weibo Wednesdays in the past… month. If I could spend more time each day scrolling through Weibo for memorable posts, I definitely would, but unfortunately, that’s not what I get paid to do! But we do have a deluge of goodies from the past month, so full speed ahead!
Jing Boran showed his support for real-life couple Feng Shaofeng and Ni Ni‘s first feature film together, Love Will Tear Us Apart (我想和你好好的), calling it a must-watch. Jing Boran and Ni Ni will soon star together in Up in the Wind (等风来), a film about two unlikely friends’ search for happiness, which eventually leads them to Nepal. Up in the Wind opens in theaters on December 29th. Forever LOLing at the person trying to sneak a pic of Ni Ni with their Minion phone in this photo below.
Attaboy, Yuan Hong! Go Get ’em, Cowboy! The handsome warrior rides his… water buffalo?!?… into town. Sun glasses at the ready, he leaves the ladies dumbstruck.
Actress Ruby Lin’s 3rd production, Realm of Love – The Long Ballad, has launched filming, much to our glee. The first trailer (below) was recently released.
In addition to the leading cast of Ruby Lin and Yuan Hong, Reyizha (Ning Ping from Zhen Huan Zhuan) has landed the role of Ding Rou, love interest of Feng Yi played by Li Jiahang (Er Kang from the New Huan Zhu Ge Ge). Feng Yi was a general famous for his modest behavior, and was part of Emperor Yuan Hong’s trusty group of 28 generals (among the others from that list who will appear in the drama is Deng Yu, who also vies for Ruby Lin’s Mary-Sue love. Looks like Feng Yi is going to be a dreamy male character who, hopefully, will eventually find happiness through Reyizha. Apparently, Reyizha’s role has been expanded for this drama. As long as it makes for a good story, we approve! (…It just better be a good story.) Find more pictures below the cut!
Ruby Lin, starring in her latest self-produced drama has picked herself a cast full of eye candy again. Not only does she have Yuan Hong, she also has Kenny Kwon looking very good so far as the hypotenuse in that love triangle; there are also plenty of other gorgeous men in armor. Fun fact: Ruby Lin’s character, Yin Lihua, is the empress who gave birth to the greatest number of imperials sons in Chinese history (five!). …She shares this “honor” with Guo Shentong, who was her husband’s other empress.
Guess what? Ruby Lin is historically entitled to a Mary-Sue character in her latest drama, “Realm of Love – The Long Ballad”* 秀丽江山 长歌行 with Yuan Hong. For her character, Yin Lihua, was historically noted to be beautiful, demure, sweet, gentle, humble, modest…everything that would make her the paragon of virtue. As a little background information, Liu Xiu (Yuan Hong) fell in love with Yin Lihua the moment he laid eyes on her, commenting that his ideal job would be as a chamberlain of the imperial insignia, and the ideal wife would be Yin Lihua. He actually ended up becoming the founder of the Eastern Han dynasty, reinstating the House of Liu as the imperial family after Wang Mang had usurped the throne in 9 AD.
Also joining the cast is Kenny Kwan who plays Yin LIhua’s childhood friend and Liu XIu’s trusted general Deng Yu. Mao Zijun (he was the young Han Wudi in Schemes of a Beauty), and iPartment’s Li Jiahang are also part of the cast. The drama is adapted from a book of the same name. Continue reading →
