Li Qin, Qin Hao cast in historical romance drama The Song of Glory

Upcoming historical romance drama The Song of Glory 南歌, previously known as 雀谋 / 锦绣长歌 / Biding Time, comes from the producers of The Princess Weiyoung, and stars Li Qin (Ruyi’s Royal Love in the Palace) as the mistress of a dance house who is later revealed to be the missing daughter of a respected family of warriors. Hu Ge guest stars in Zhou Xun, Zhang Zifeng’s upcoming film Last Letter

Hu Ge (Game of Hunting), who recently wrapped up filming Wild Goose Lake, guest stars in director Shunji Iwai’s first Chinese-language feature Last Letterwhich has recently released character posters and a trailer ahead of its premiere on November 9th at the Golden Horse Film Festival. Zhou Xun plays the lead, a woman who reunites with her high school crush at a class reunion.

The Lost Tomb spinoff  Sea of Sand 沙海 released yet two more trailers in anticipation for its July 20th release date. The series stars Wu Lei as the protagonist, a high school’er who  becomes entangled in a suspenseful adventure after meeting Wu Xie from The Lost Tomb series (Qin Hao). They’re joined by Yang Rong, Zhang Meng, Ji Chen, and Yu Hewei.

Love Letter writer’s new film confirms Zhou Xun, Zhang Zifeng as leads

Zhou Xun (Our Time Will Come) stars as the main protagonist in upcoming romance film Last Letter 你好, 之华, and she’ll be joined by teen actresses Zhang Zifeng (A Love For Separation) and Deng Enxi (The Devotion of Suspect X). Qin Hao (Legend of the Demon Cat) and Du Jiang (Operation Red Sea) have also been cast in unspecified roles.

Glad to see more series taking advantage of China’s diverse geography for on-location shoots.

Visually the most expensive-looking The Lost Tomb series so far, Sea of Sand 沙海 released its first trailer.  The series stars Wu Lei as the protagonist, a high school’er who  becomes entangled in a suspenseful adventure after meeting Wu Xie  from The Lost Tomb series (Qin Hao). They’re joined by Yang Rong and Zhang Meng.

Wan Qian, Qin Hao, Li Jiahang to lead Daylight Entertainment’s new drama

Young Army Officer 尉官正年轻 is an upcoming military drama produced by Daylight Entertainment (Nirvana in Fire, The Disguiser, Ode to Joy) and stars Wan Qian (Tribes and Empires)Qin Hao (Legend of the Cat Demon) and Li Jiahang (Surgeons) in leading roles. The drama is being marketed as a comical romance between a sophisticated young gentleman and a strong young woman.

Last round of promotions for Huang Xuan’s Legend of the Demon Cat

Upcoming fantasy mystery film Legend of the Demon Cat stars Huang Xuan (Extraordinary Mission) as a poet who often dreams he is living in the era of Emperor Xuanzong of Tang (Zhang Luyi). Shota Sometani costars as a monk, and the two work together to unravel the truth behind a series of strange events that all lead back to the death of the emperor’s favourite concubine Yang Yuhuan (Sandrine Pinna).

The Queens releases Tarot card posters

Singer Annie Yi makes her directorial debut with The Queens 我是女王, which follows the lives of three best friends (Song Hye-kyo, Joe Chen, and Wu Junmei) as they try to gain control of their own lives. The film also stars Shawn Dou, Joe Cheng, Jerry Yang, Jiang Wu, and guest stars newly-weds Annie Yi and Qin Hao. The film is set for a November 6th release.
