Horror thriller series Madhouse is getting mad reviews

Horror thriller series Madhouse 疯人院 is getting mad reviews, but I still have no idea what it’s about or if it’s good or not because I heard it’s scary and I’m a scaredy cat. It stars Liu Chang, Lu Shan, Mei Ting, and Liu Mintao.

The posters and episode titles sounds great though, my favorites are Spontaneous Human Combustion and Walking Specimens. The later sounds like a blockbuster horror film title.  Watch it on Youtube here.

The Rise of Phoenixes confirms air date, releases new previews and stills

Chen Kun and Ni Ni’s The Rise of Phoenixes has released two TV spots, a bunch of new stills, and also gotten itself a new native title of 天盛长歌 (lit. The Golden Age of Tiansheng). The 70 episode drama is confirmed to air as a daily drama from August 14th.

I am 95% confident the drama has a sad ending in store for us just based on the last line: “I swear upon my father’s grave that regardless of the circumstance I am in, I shall never marry Ning Yi.”

(The drama is using on-site recording, hence the lack of familiar dubbing voices) Continue reading

Promo Round-up: Nirvana in Fire 2: The Wind Blows in Changlin

Nirvana in Fire 2: The Wind Blows in Changlin occurs nearly half a century after the events of Nirvana in Fire, and the safety of the Liang Dynasty is still being threatened by neighbouring kingdoms and corrupt politicians.

My expectations are pretty low given the fact that sequels never work, though with directors Kong Sheng and Li Xue at the helm, it’s bound to look gorgeous. The 50 episode drama will air two episodes every Monday to Wednesday on Dragon and Beijing TV beginning tonight. English subs will be available on Dramafever and Viki.
