Marvelous Women (previously translated as The Matriarch) stars Jiang Qinqin and Yang Rong as love rivals who eventually overcome their differences and protect the family’s silk-weaving technique when the family heir (Xu Haiqiao) goes MIA. Mao Zijun costars as the heroine’s first love, while Zhang Huiwen plays her maid.
The 35 episode drama releases 2 episodes every Monday to Thursday.
Republican-era drama Grieved to find you unlike the moon 恨君不似江楼月 (lit.) / Killer and Healer revolves around the friendship between the morally ambiguous police detective Jiang Yuelou (Mao Zijun) and doctor (Yi Bochen). Directed by He Shupei (And The Winner Is Love), the 36 episode drama premieres on Mango TV tonight at 6pm (CN time).

Wuxia drama The Story of the Bat 夜燕白 is written by original author Fengnong, and stars Mao Zijun (Legend of Haolan) as Feng Long, the leader of the wulin. Zhang Yao (Love in Between) costars as Bai Shaoqing, a youth who re-enters wulin under a new identity and will stop at nothing to save his mother.
Directed by Shi Lei (S.C.I Mystery), the 36 episode drama began filming yesterday.

Upcoming palace intrigue drama The Legend of Haolan stars Wu Jinyan as Li Haolan, a former noble lady of the Zhao state who is first a concubine to merchant-turned-politician Lv Buwei (Nie Yuan) before marrying the future ruler of the Qin state Ying Yiren (Mao Zijun).
The 63 episode drama will release two episodes every Saturday to Tuesday on iQiyi / MZTV beginning tonight. Members get an 8 episode head start.

Riding on the popularity of The Story of Yanxi Palace, Beauty Hao Lan / Legend of Haolan 皓镧传 has secured a November 15th release date. The Yu Zheng-helmed palace intrigue reunites Yanxi stars Wu Jinyan and Nie Yuan. They’re joined by Mao Zijun, Ning Jing, Tan Zhuo, Tong Mengshi and Wang Lin.

Streaming website iQiyi recently released trailers and news for a slew of upcoming shows that will either air exclusively on the site as web dramas or on national networks next year. Which shows are you looking forward to most?
Here’s the first trailer for The Destiny of White Snake, a re-imagination of the popular Chinese legend about a thousand-year old snake demon who falls in love with a human. Yang Zi (Legend of the Dragon Pearl) and Ren Jialun (Glory of Tang Dynasty) play a white snake spirit (what’s with the cartoon CGI?) and a deity respectively, who fall in love and are subsequently banished to the mortal world.
