One of the perks of being a male star in China is that there are always opportunities to dress up as girls without people making a big fuss about it. After all, all Peking opear artists used to be male. Which one of the four pop idols do you think is the prettiest girl? (more…)
I was wondering what Liu Yifei has done recently to deserve being on Harpaar’s Bazaar, probably the most successful magazine in China until I noticed the “Jewelry” appendage. I didn’t know they had a jewerly version of their magazine. They really must be doing well, with a version for Men, and now this.
Go behind the cut for Deng Chao, Huang Xiaoming and Frida Giannini, Ma Tianyu Tan Weiwei and Jane Zhang.
Fan Bingbing recently graced the cover of ELLE magazine, who labeled 2009 as the “Year of Fan Bingbing Movies”, a very apt description. Fan Bingbing starred or will be starring in 7 movies: Shinjuku Incident, Sophie’s Revenge, Wheat, Bodyguards and Assassins, East Wind. Rain, Future Cops and an unnamed one. She’ll also be starring her own production, the drama ,The Last Night of Madame Chin.
We’re including in this post as well, several other photoshoots that we found pretty, but were too lazy to make their own separate posts for. There’s He Zhuoyan who idarklight likes, from the upcoming HSDS adaptation, Sun Feifei, a tv actress who most people seem to like, and Ma Tianyu who we’re curious to see act and pass judgement on. And then there’s Zhang Ziyi, and the director/cast for Nanking! Nanking! who we thank for already giving us ample to pass judgement on.
The second set of HQ stills were released on Monday for the other Dream of the Red Chamber adaptation, called Dai Yu Zhuan that idarklight mentioned was starting production right as The New Dream of the Red Chamberwas finishing up its filming. Despite its lower budget, people have rallied around this version already, since the makeup and costumes adhere to canon, versus Li Shaohong’s version where everyone has opera hairstyles and pale makeup.
The casts for the TV version of The Myth and The Legend of Daiyu has been announced, with the female leads all being newcomers and Hu Ge and Ma Tianyu being the respective male leads.
Searching for the Dream of the Red Chamber seems to be like the Super Girls of acting. Even before the completion of the drama itself, actresses from the competition have already began to flourish. Lin Xinru of Ugly Wudi was the first. Ying Yezi, who plays Xue Baoqin, then signed on as one of the lead actresses in Meteor Shower. More are coming their way. Bai Bing, who plays Xue Baochai in Red Chamber, signed on to Hong Kong’s EGM and will star in The Myth alongside Hu Ge. Meanwhile, two other actresses from the competition will star opposite Ma Tianyu in an “idol” version of the Dream of the Red Mansion. Min Chunxiao will play Lin Daiyu and Deng Sha will play Xue Baochai.
