It’s funny how all of Ma Boyong’s drama adaptions (Mystery of Antiques, Secret of the Three Kingdoms, Longest Day in Chang’an, upcoming Luoyang) have high production values and star actors I like as leads, yet I just end up dropping all of them. Fingers crossed The Wind Blows from Longxi 风起陇西 can break the curse.

Assassin in Red (A Writer’s Odyssey in overseas markets)stars Lei Jiayin as the father who is out to save his daughter from a monster, and Dong Zijian as the novelist who created it. Yang Mi plays the antagonist’s henchwoman. Costars include Guo Jingfei, Yu Hewei, Dong Jie and Tong Liya.
Directed by Lu Yang (Brotherhood of Blades series), the film will premiere on Chinese New Year’s Day.

Assassin in Red stars Lei Jiayin as the father who is tasked with killing a novelist (Dong Zijian) to save his daughter, yet ends up getting written into the novel himself. Yang Mi plays the alluring assassin Tuling.

Brotherhood in Blades director Lu Yang released a trailer for his latest film, fantasy thriller Assassin in Red 刺杀小说家. The film stars Lei Jiayin, Dong Zijian, Yang Mi, Yu Hewei, Guo Jingfei, Tong Liya, and Dong Jie and is set for a Chinese New Year release in 2021.
Director Lu Yang, best known for his wuxia film series Brotherhood in Blades, has started work on a new mystery film titled Assassin in Red 刺杀小说家, based on the story of the same name by Shuang Xuetao.

Set to release on August 7th, Brotherhood of Blades by young director Lu Yang stars Chang Chen, Liu Shishi, Nie Yuan, Ye Qing, and Zhu Dan,. The story takes place during the Ming dynasty and follows the story of three brothers caught in between the Chongzhen Emperor, a plot to assassinate Wei Zhongxian (a notorious eunuch), the Ming dynasty secret police, and political intrigue possibly leading to the fall of the Ming dynasty.
