Rain and Liu Yifei star together in “For Love of Money”

Beach volleyball, anyone?

Directed by Gao Xixi and starring Rain and Liu YIfei in the lead roles,  upcoming romance film “For Love of Money” 落水红颜” will be hitting the silver screen on November 7th. (By the way, if you don’t care about Liu Yifei or Rain, you might be interested in seeing Joan Chen or Tang Yan in side roles).

Liu Yifei came from an aristocratic family, which has since fallen to ruin. With no other choice, she lives like an ordinary girl (oh, woe is her!). She meets and falls in love with a mysterious artist in a coffee shop, thus heralding the beginning of an uncertain love story.  Continue reading

Liu Yifei as princess for Outcast

“What will I do when i can’t learn how to act before I get too old to play generic vase characters/token asian love interests?”

Crystal Liu Yifei plays a Song dynasty princess, daughter of a deceased emperor, (she’s got Andy On as her brother) in their upcoming movie Outcast. Pay attention, though – this movie, about crusaders in ancient China, also stars Nicholas Cage and Hayden Christensen. The movie will be released in China on September 26th, and will be released in America (?) in February. It’s an English language film, but Liu Yifei is still Liu Yifei. Photoshoot Friday: May 17, 2013

Below the cut, Liu Yifei is crying because Zhao Wei took her place as the cover photo.

Zhao Wei is the true jewel in her photoshoot with Bazaar Jewelry; Liu Yifei is glamorous for Figaro. Zhang Yao from Zhao Wei’s new movie So Young makes an appearance in this round up with her husband, and actress Jiang Xin is pretty and sophisticated in the still from her shoot. Chen Xiao was supposed to be here, but Chen Kun was not impressed and took the position of “most charismatic male” in this shoot instead. You also have Chen Yanqiu, who’s awfully young (born after 1995!), beautiful in an old-movie themed photoshoot. Da Zhangwei reveals how much fun he can have dressing up as a clown in what I assume is a telephone booth (that changes colors). Look below the cut for more!  Continue reading

Concept art for Chow Yun-fat, Liu Yifei’s Assassins

Liu Yifei combines beauty and fierceness in her latest role as an assassin.

Pretty concept art for Chow Yun-fat and Liu Yifei’s upcoming film Bronze Sparrow Terrace/The Assassins 铜雀台. Chow plays the brilliant antagonist of the Three Kingdoms, Cao Cao, while Liu Yifei plays ones of the Four Beauties – Diaochan.

Also, it seems like they’re partnering with card game company SanGuoSha (advanced Three Kingdoms version of mafia), so we might soon see Liu Yifei in a card game! Of course, SanGuoSha Online already have Sun Yang and Ye Shiwen cards, soo ….

Zombie invasions continue to China with The Four JUNE 26, 2012

Painted Skin’s director returns for another magical wuxia film with gloomy tones.

Painted Skin’s director returns for another magical wuxia film with gloomy tones.

Even if the CDC knows of no zombie viruses, zombies are everywhere in the news and media. Next month, they’re even making their appearance in ancient China in Gordon Chan’s The Four. Starring Deng Chao, Liu Yifei, Colin Chou, Anthony Wong, Ronald Cheng and Jiang Yiyan, The Four is a detective-wuxia action flick loosely based on the book of the same name. The change of gender for Heartless may mean that bird girl Heartless ( Liu Yifei ) and wolf boy Cold Blood (Deng Chao) also have a romantic relationship somehow .

The sequel’s already been approved for filming.
