After a long drought in the genre, the team behind Qing Dynasty time-traveling romance Bu Bu Jing Xing returns with an adaptation of one of the pillars of the genre – A Dream Back to the Qing Dynasty 梦回大清 by Jinzi. With a track record of supporting talented new directors by producing films like Dying to Survive, A or B, and How Long Will I Love U, Xu Zheng will hopefully continue this trend with his latest production, pet-themed ensemble film Adoring 宠爱 by new director Yang Zi.
Adoring finished filming early in the summer and is set for a Dec. 31, 2019 release date. The film feature six segments – Yu Hewei X Li Landi, Wu Lei X Zhang Zifeng, Yang Zishan X Wallace Chung, William Chan X Zhong Chuxi, Tan Jianci X Kan Qingzi, and poor Guo Qilin all by himself (but with a puppy!) . Can you name all the cast members from the Xu Zheng-judged Season Two of I Am An Actor?(more…)
Tangren may be attempting to recreate the classic that was Bubu Jingxin / Scarlet Heart with their upcoming period romance drama Dreaming Back to the Qing Dynasty 梦回大清. Li Landi (My Huckleberry Friends) stars as Mingwei, the heroine who can time travel back and forth between the Qing dynasty and the 21st century.
Never Gone原来你还在这里 has one of best young casts of the year, featuring an all-star cast of Li Landi, Hu Xianxu, Li Gengxi, and Bian Cheng as the young versions of the four leads. Here’s some of their stills. The series is set for a November 6th release date on Youku.
Fun fact: Since filming the drama, the two leads have become classmates in real life as both entered the same class at the Central Drama Academy this fall.
Here’s the MV by Bibi Zhou Bichang:
Never Gone 原来你还在这里 released a new set of posters comparing the young and grown-up versions of its four leads – Li Landi and Yang Zishan, Hu Xianxu and Han Dongjun, Li Gengxi and Su Qing, and Bian Cheng and Tan JIanci.
Pretty much everyone but the two adult leads have gotten more well-known since the series was filmed. Lan Yingying, Li Landi, and Tan Jianci have all been applauded for their performances on I’m an Actor / The Birth of an Actor, Hu Xianxu failed on that show but did get his first girlfriend in college, Su Qing was a hit as the antagonist in The Story of Yanxi Palace, Bian Cheng in Ruyi’s Royal Love in the Palace, while Li Gengxi debuted in her first lead drama My Classmate From Far, Far Away.
Hopefully, the release of the posters means they’ll capitalize on the hype and release the drama soon. Meanwhile, here’s a promo song by Han Dongjun:
The TV adaptation of Miss Granny/20 Once Again 重返20岁, the story of a 70-year-old granny who becomes her 20-year-old self again to find her passion, streams today and stars Hu Bingqing, Han Dongjun, Zhang Yaqin, Gui Leiya, and Qin Han.
It looks like this Youtube channel has brought overseas rights.
The trailer had too much exposition so here’s a fanvid.
