Thankful for the Remaining Years / Qing Yu Nian comes from Wang Juan, the writer of cult hits Turbulence of the Mu Clan, Legend of Southwest Dance and Music and Young Blood. One of the many female ensemble dramas scheduled to air in 2020, the latest teaser for Love in Shanghai introduces the show as a story that revolves around four women and eight men, with an overall theme of loving yourself. The series is currently filming, and stars Song Qian, Celina Jade, Zhang Jianing and Li Chun as leads.

We get our first glimpse of the three brothers in the first trailer for upcoming Republican drama New World. There’s the local jail boss (Sun Honglei), the Kuomintang government official (Zhang Luyi) and the policeman (Yin Fang), and the three brothers go through various internal struggles before finally deciding to band together and welcome the Communists into Beiping. Set in the weeks before the liberation of Beiping by the Communists, the new Republican drama is aptly titled New World 新世界, and revolves around the lives of three friends, played by Sun Honglei (To Be A Better Man), Zhang Luyi (The Patriot) and Yin Fang (Operation Red Sea) and the conflicts that arise due to their different beliefs.
Photographer Yin Chao used wet plate processing and large format cameras to recreate vintage Qing-dynasty looks for currently streaming series Ruyi’s Royal Love in the Palace. Not much material has been released for Ruyi’s Royal Love in the Palace because the air date was announced on such short notice, but having this post up gives me some sense of closure (I’m pretty sure I’ve posted about this drama more than 20 times over the past two years).
