Let’s Shake It 2 has begun streaming on Youtube here. Two new episodes come out every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. I’ve watched the first three episodes (MGTV VIP gets six extra episodes)  and unfortunately with a different production team, it’s inferior to the first one in almost every way. Th overall premise of the characters having to constantly adjust what they’re doing in the Sui dynasty to make sure they still exist in the Tang dynasty is a lot more interesting than the first one, but the pacing is really off, and the only jokes that work are callbacks to the first one.  Also Abu’s costumes are not nearly as cute as in the first one.

If you had to pick a show about a humanlike soul trapped in a catlike body, I would go with I’m a Pet at Dali Temple which has worse acting but is at least fun.

Time-traveling is messy in Let’s Shake It 2’s first trailer

Future Tang Qingfeng and current Tang Qingfeng have timetravelled back to before they were born to try to kill each other in what they each think will protect Abu.

It seems like only yesterday the drama was announced, but Let’s Shake It 2 : Trouble on Planet Duo 颤抖吧阿部之朵星风云 has already finished filming and apparently most of post-production since it will stream on August 6. On top of saving all of the Tang dynasty by making sure it happens in the timeline, Tang Qingfeng apparently  must also fight off future-himself as future-himself (actually future-future-himself given that he’s already a future-himself in the Sui dynasty) tries to kill him to save Abu.

I’m 100% up for a series of  them just going to a different  dynasty each season.

Here’s the first trailer. The ending is probably my favorite part:

The cutest alien in the Tang dynasty is coming back to Earth!

The most fun drama of 2017, sci-fi rom-com Let’s Shake It  颤抖吧,阿部!,   is getting a sequel, Let’s Shake It 2 : Trouble on Planet Duo 颤抖吧阿部之朵星风云.  The  first one was crazy hilarious and shippable, and probably one of my favorite dramas of 2017.     Plus, everyone’s voice acting was  perfect for their roles, which is pretty rare since most such dramas use dubs.

Not much has been said about the sequel or whether everyone will be back, but leads An Yuexi, Zheng Yecheng are definitely in it. The brother duo directors have been replaced with assistant director Wang Yan. It seems like there’ll be more aliens joining the cast. Maybe they’ll all go to Planet Duo?

P.S. While you wait, there’s another drama, My Classmate from Far, Far Away 同学两亿岁,  out that also features aliens from Planet Duo crash landing on Earth.
