Tai-chi Master: The Ultimate Gateway releases character stills

As long as they don’t start playing this song

Tai-chi Master: The Ultimate Gateway has released more character stills.  Starring Kevin ChengTang YixinLin YouweiYuan BingyanBai BingYing HaomingHuang WenhaoHe ZhonghuaMaggie SiuZou TingweiHao ZejiaWang Yao, and Jing Feng, some of these stills are making this drama pretty tempting, even though I usually avoid Republican era dramas due to some… errr… creative costuming preferences I’ve seen evolve and the history of the time period.

City of Hopeless Love’s concept art and stills for “Thirteenth Moon”

 photo 704_889757_744354_zps636e2ba5.jpg

Ye Zhen, the female lead of the series, is played by Lin Yuan and has yet to make an appearance in the stills. Isn’t this gorgeous?

Concept art is gorgeous; artists can get away with colorful costumes and unusual hair coloring much more easily than directors can. You can enjoy some gorgeous art for City of Hopeless Love (more here) at the end of the post. (Loads of stills under the cut today).

On another note, stills for Guo Zhenni‘s chapter, “Thirteenth Moon,” have recently been released. Guo Zhenni plays a pair of twin sisters, one who is the assassin Yingge. Her sister marries her first love, while the male lead of this subplot accidentally marries Yingge. Although he finds out about the deception, he ends up wholly in love with her (within three days!?). He becomes willing sacrifice all for her; ie,  protecting her man(?) and ultimately dying of poison in order to protect her. I’m waiting for the actual drama to come out to learn where the dream weaving comes in. Continue reading

Weibo Wednesday: April 17-24

Celebrities flocked to Weibo this week in order to call followers’ attention to the 7.0-magnitude earthquake that hit Ya’an on April 20th. Whether it was sharing ways to help, urging fans to donate their money or time, or simply posting words of comfort, a bunch of stars made noteworthy Weibo posts. We unfortunately can’t reproduce all of them, but hopefully we’ve gotten some of the more memorable ones.

Please keep the people of Ya’an in your thoughts!

何炅: 刚刚看到的图,和大家分享,我们为美丽的四川加油!

Not sure who first came up with the idea for this photo, but He Jiong posted it on his Weibo, along with a message of support:

I just saw this picture, and want to share it with everyone. Let’s jiayou for the beautiful Sichuan!

Photoshoot Round-up, Week 4: Yao Chen is gold in gold; photoshoots from other celebs

My favorite out of these shoots is definitely Yao Chen with all of her gold gauze and solar sparkles, seen below. Li Bingbing is intense even when she’s eating noodles – so intense, in fact, that the noodles are slipping off of the plate with the intensity. That’s one of the poses she made for her recent photoshoot with Madame Figaro (you can find a few pictures from that below the cut). Also included in this week’s round up is Zhao Wei, looking elegant and composted for ELLE. Yang Mi, who appeared in ELLE in one of the earlier round ups, now hops over to the Bella magazine with a very sweet and down-to-earth style. Actor Lu Yi and his wife Bao Lei are also included in a couple photoshoot for fashion weekly, and Kevin Cheng looks meditative in the photoshoot that we finish off this round-up with. (He is also posing for ELLE, although he’s much more manly than the title of the magazine.)
