Han Geng, Janice Man struggle for air in dystopian wasteland drama Hard Memory

Could this be the first hard sci-fi drama to succeed?

Sci-fi drama  Hard Memory: Prisoner Under Air 失忆之城之空气的囚徒 tells of a city in need of memories and oxygen. In the near future,  the populace are imprisoned in a walled “city”  as their memories are farmed by the ruling class. I imagine they must really need oxygen outside of the walled city since not giving people enough oxygen is probably not the best way to get memories.

 Han Geng plays a boxer who helps the poor to win oxygen  through fighting matches.  The sci-fi drama is produced by and stars Han Geng. Janice Man, Kenny Kwan, Zhang Yuxi join his team while Shawn Yue and Zhang Yujian play the antagonists.

Hopefully more co-operations between production companies and video platforms means better drama productions and more of them.

Realm of Love: Long Ballad – thoughts?

… IMO, although the characters aren’t terribly original and some of the scenes are a bit of an eye-roll, I find that the majority of the plot follows a logical progression.  Characters have their flaws but at least there are times where they pay a logical price for their flaws as opposed to some dramas in the past where this didn’t happen and seemed to detract form the story for me.

Realm of Love: Long Ballad 秀丽江山 长歌行 has been airing for quite some time. Starring Ruby Lin, Yuan Hong, Kenny Kwan, Mao Zijun, Li Jiahang, Wang Yuanke, Zong Fengyan, Yu Bo, Dai Junzhu, and Wang Yu, those who have been watching it, what are your thoughts so far?.

Unfortunately, I am skeptical if these pretty backdrops will make it to the actual drama…

I like how balanced everything looks. There’s enough color and decorating to keep me interested but not to the point where I feel that I am watching a peacock mating ritual… also the patterns used are mostly characteristic for the era based on what I can see…

The designer has clearly taken the concept of “random lengths of flowing cloth” idea too far on this costume…

Filming has started for The Legend of Flying Daggers, starring Hawick Lau, Yang Rong, Wu Yingjie, Huang Ming, Kenny Kwan, and Yuan Bingyan.  I yearn for the day when “wuxia” won’t automatically mean a free ticket for designers to call random lengths of drapery clothing…

Well this is rare…

Realm of Love: Long Ballad 秀丽江山 长歌行 has changed their air date to July 21st from July 26th. Starring Ruby Lin, Yuan Hong, Kenny Kwan, Mao Zijun, Li Jiahang, Wang Yuanke, Zong Fengyan, Yu Bo, Dai Junzhu, and Wang Yu, it’s nice to see a drama changing to an earlier release date after being accustomed to dramas being pushed back… wonder if it has anything to do with catching the media storm about Ruby Lin and Wallace Huo…  anyhoo… new trailer below.
