I’m going to take a wild guess that unfortunately, these aren’t going to be the only songs written for the event.
Does this mean we’ll also get a Cantonese version?
The Dreaming Man 假如王子睡着了 is Disney’s first Chinese co-production, and stars Jelly Lin Yun (Journey to the West: The Demons Strike Back) as a modern-day Cinderella who gets entangled in a love triangle with two brothers, played by Chen Bolin (Surprise) and Zhang Yunlong (Mr. Pride vs Miss Prejudice).
Since its publication in 2007, the novel Du Lala’s Promotion (杜拉拉升职记) has spawned two movies, two TV dramas, one stage drama, and one webdrama. Now the story is headed back to television, with a new TV drama titled Still Lala (我是杜拉拉) and starring Qi Wei and David Wang (Wang Yaoqing).
Still Lala is based on the fourth and final book in the Du Lala series and serves as the third part in the Du Lala TV series, following Wang Luodan‘s A Story of Lala’s Promotion (杜拉拉升职记) and Jiao Junyan‘s Lala’s Shining Days (杜拉拉之似水年华). The titular Du Lala is now in her 30s and enjoying life as an HR manager and a happily married wife. However, a new female coworker threatens to turn her life upside down.
Qi Wei sings the song’s ending theme, “Forgot to Remember” (忘了去记得), which is composed by JJ Lin and penned by award-winning writer Orson Zhang (Zhang Haochen). The MV, which is embedded below, is not all that interesting, but it’s always nice to listen to Qi Wei’s vocals and JJ Lin’s music.
Still Lala began airing on April 16 and is being broadcast on Jiangsu TV and online at Tencent. You can also watch the episodes with subs at Viki.
To say this Weibo Wednesday is a little overdue is a huge understatement, considering there’s a post dating back to Halloween LOL. But oh well, better late than never, right? Happy New Year to everyone, and let’s have a quick recap of the past two months.
Who is this cutie you’ve probably never seen? The answer is Tian Xinchen, the son of Tian Liang and the younger brother of Cindy Tian Yucheng. Wikipedia claims he was born on April 13, 2012, which would make him three years old, but that doesn’t explain why Tian Liang posted Xinchen’s birthday cake photo in early November.
Anyhoo, this is the first time (I believe) that we’ve gotten a look at Tian Liang’s son, so take a good look! He’s a real cutie.
Hello, everybody, let’s get to know one another! I am one in a family of four, and my most beautiful mother and sister prepared a cake for me. My ugliest father tried to steal the limelight from me, so I Photoshopped him out.
Every season of ‘The Voice Of China’ consists of a Battle Round where the coaches invite another celebrity singer to be their advisor in the coaching rounds. With past invitees including Coco Lee, Wang Feng, Leehom Wang, Jam Hsia, and Ella Chen, I’d have to say the biggest hype of advisors would happen to be the ones officially announced in last night’s episode of Season 4.
This isn’t the first time JJ Lin has gone out of his way to send his condolences to a grievous disaster by writing a song dedicated to the victims. In 2008, upon hearing about the devastating earthquake that shook Sichuan, he took 2 days without sleeping to compose a beautiful ballad ‘Love And Hope’ in his studio, which he performed with the children of Sichuan.
Last weekend at a water park in Taiwan, a mysterious substance caused a massive fireball to ignite and consume the stage, resulting in the death of one person and the injuries of 500. While many celebrities took to Weibo to send their messages of hope, JJ teamed up with Taiwanese singer and guitarist Wing to compose a beautiful three minute ballad called ‘I Pray For You’ to give encouragement and strength to those affected in the explosion. With both men being Christian, the song ends with a prayer from JJ who asks God to help give strength and ease the suffering of the people. Even to those who aren’t Christian, it’s truly an emotional and touching song, and reminds us all that in times of desperation and injury, we can always turn to music to ease our sufferings.
If you don’t count being assaulted by a crazy fan to start off the new year, it’s a great year so far for JJ Lin. On his ‘Timeline’ world tour to promote his latest album ‘Genesis,’ JJ rocked Beijing last Saturday in a 3 hour concert. With a revisit to all his old songs, talking to the audience, and surprises planned by his official fan club, the surprise guest of the concert turned out to be Jung Yong-hwa, the Korean artist JJ paired up with to deliver the song ‘Checkmate.’ The two sang songs including JJ’s top hits ‘Practice Love,’ ‘The Gardens,’ and of course, ‘Checkmate.’ Continue reading
JJ Lin just released the MV for ‘Lamando’, a song he wrote for Volkswagen to endorse their newest car. That’s pretty nifty seeing as regular celebrities just do photoshoots- JJ Lin goes ahead and composes an upbeat dance track.
The MV (or should I say car commercial) has quite a lot of stuff going on in it. With a sort of futuristic theme, it involves flashing lights, floating cubes, and a DJ who everyone thinks looks like Pewdiepie from YouTube. JJ shows off his pretty cool dance moves in the first few seconds of the song, but then transforms into a race car driver and proceeds to run into stuff. A zoom-away shot shows us that he’s actually playing a video game, and then when things couldn’t get more confusing, the plot changes to become a love story with a woman’s image flashing through the game console. JJ then bellows “Lamaaaaaandoooo” multiple times, which would make sense if this was a love song, but then we remember that he wrote this song for a car.
Take a look!
Remember when I said that the I Am A Singer 我是歌手 finale was going to be good? Well, I lied. It was pretty awful. In almost three and a half hours of airtime, we got about 24 minutes of good music. Proportionately, that’s like taking out all the main parts of a Pitbull song and just listening to the featured artist.
The first segment of the finale invited musical guests to duet with the seven finalists. Turns out, that wasn’t a great idea. And most of the finalists probably would have done better without their partners. Take a deep breath, here’s a rundown. Continue reading
