Writer-director Chen Sicheng has grand plans to create his own Detective Chinatown Universe, and the web drama is his first attempt at bringing the series out of cinema and onto the small screen.
The 12 episode web drama comes from Sam Quah, the director of well-received crime thriller Sheep Without a Shepherd and releases 1 episode a day every Wed-Sat beginning today.

Janine Chang, Chen Zheyuan, Cheng Xiao and Deng Enxi costar. The 12 episode series will revolve around four cases, all set in different locations and directed by different up-and-coming directors.

A poster for currently filming idol drama 与其微醺何不醉. I really want to translate this as Why not drunk, but I’m willing to consider other names. It stars Song Yiren and newbies.

Photographer Yin Chao used wet plate processing and large format cameras to recreate vintage Qing-dynasty looks for currently streaming series Ruyi’s Royal Love in the Palace. Not much material has been released for Ruyi’s Royal Love in the Palace because the air date was announced on such short notice, but having this post up gives me some sense of closure (I’m pretty sure I’ve posted about this drama more than 20 times over the past two years).
