Nice To Meet You 只为遇见你 explores the clashing of traditional Chinese and modern elements in the jewelry world. The series airs on March 10th and stars Janice Man (Tribe and Empires), Zhang Ming’en (Tientsin Mystic), Wei Qianxiang (Prince of Lan Ling), Tang Mengjia (Concubine Meng Arrives), Ma Yashu (Spell of the Fragrance), and Ji Xiaobing (S.C.I.).
Espionage thriller The Message 风声 drama has released a second and much better trailer, with stylized shots and interwoven scenes to build up suspense. Based on the acclaimed film of the same name, the drama tells the story of five suspected locked in a mansion trying to find out who among them is the murder of a Japanese official. The series stars Xu Lu (Be With You), Janice Man (Love Weaves Through A Millennium 2), Zhao Lixin (The Rise of Phoenixes), Zhang Zhijian (In the Name of the People) and Tony Yang(Divas Hit the Road 2) as the leads.
Will this be the sleeper ratings hit of 2019 like its prequel?
While 2018’s most viewed idol drama, Because of You 因为遇见你, tells of the combination of modern wedding dress designs and traditional embroidery, its sequel Nice To Meet You 只为遇见你 explores the clashing of traditional Chinese and modern elements in the jewelry world. The sequel stars Janice Man (Tribe and Empires), Zhang Ming’en (Tientsin Mystic), Wei Qianxiang (Prince of Lan Ling), Tang Mengjia (Concubine Meng Arrives), Ma Yashu (Spell of the Fragrance), and Ji Xiaobing (S.C.I.).

Could this be the first hard sci-fi drama to succeed?
Sci-fi drama Hard Memory: Prisoner Under Air 失忆之城之空气的囚徒 tells of a city in need of memories and oxygen. In the near future, the populace are imprisoned in a walled “city” as their memories are farmed by the ruling class. I imagine they must really need oxygen outside of the walled city since not giving people enough oxygen is probably not the best way to get memories.
Han Geng plays a boxer who helps the poor to win oxygen through fighting matches. The sci-fi drama is produced by and stars Han Geng. Janice Man, Kenny Kwan, Zhang Yuxi join his team while Shawn Yue and Zhang Yujian play the antagonists.
It’s here! It’s finally here! Tribes and Empires: Storm of Prophecy, also known as the drama with the best trailers ever, is going to premiere tonight at 8pm (CN time) on streaming sites Tencent, iQiyi and Youku.
The entire story is set in Novoland, a fantasy world comprising of mortals (who either live in the prosperous Eastern Land or the nomadic Eight Tribes), dwarves (河洛), the winged people (羽), spirits (魅), titans (夸父) and merfolk (鲛).
The 80 episode drama will revolve around the friendship between a half-spirit half-human prince with a cursed fate (Huang Xuan), a general’s son (Shawn Dou) who is fated to become emperorand the heir of a nomadic tribe (Zhou Yiwei) who wants to rise up against the ruling dynasty.
The Message 风声is an upcoming web drama adaption set during the Japanese occupation period, and is based on Mai Jia’s novel of the same. Xu Lu (Be With You), Janice Man (Love Weaves Through A Millennium 2), Zhao Lixin (Chinese Style Relationship), Zhang Zhijian (In the Name of the People) and Tony Yang(Divas Hit the Road 2) as the leads.
I’ve been trying to keep my expectations low for Tribes and Empires, but the release of another fantastic trailer isn’t helping.
Huang Xuan (Extraordinary Mission) stars the half-human half-spirit prince Muyun Sheng, Shawn Dou (The Last Race) is the abandoned son of a loyal general and Zhou Yiwei(The Insanity) plays the heir of one of the nomadic tribes. Their love interests are played by Janice Man, Xu Lu and Zhang Jianing respectively.
Despite the lacklustre character stills, I think Tribes and Empires: Storm of Prophecy has still got it – I love the traditional look of these new posters, which feature all the romantic pairings in the drama.
The 80 episode fantasy drama is helmed by cinematographer turned director Cao Dun, and is aiming to broadcast on Hunan TV at the beginning of 2017. New stills, posters and character descriptions below the cut.
My most anticipated drama of the year,Empires and Tribes: Storm of Prophecy 九州·海上牧云记, released its second trailer today. The cinematography is still jaw-dropping, and the longer trailer gives us a glimpse at the cast. I’m especially impressed by the performance of antagonists Wang Qianyuan and Wan Qian.
Also, I finally finished the book and wrote an actual synopsis for the story! Continue reading →
