Well-Intended Love 2 is not a sequel after all, set to release on Feb. 13

So it turns out that Well-Intended Love 2 is actually not a direct sequel, but a similar story with the same cast, crew, and character names. The drama is loosely based on novel Heir Games: Private Sweetie 豪门游戏:私宠甜心宝贝 (yeah, it sounds that ridiculous in Chinese, too) and follows your usual rom-com troupes.
The drama is set to stream on Feb. 13 on Sohu and Tencent, no news of whether Netflix will also pick this one up. Here’s the latest trailer and some stills below the cut:
Well-Intended Love 2 releases trailer

The sequel to surprise hit rom-com Well-Intended Love, Well-Intended Love 2 奈何BOSS要娶我 2 has released its first trailer. The drama is said to “stream soon” and brings back the cast of Xu Kaicheng, Wang Shuang, Yi Bochen and Li Jiaxi and director Wu Qiang. Not sure if Netflix will also pick this one up.
I never finished the first one because I got mad at the male lead for lying to her, but it was really cute up until that revelation. I’m a little surprised that they still haven’t announced to the public they were together yet, but it looks like that revelation is what the sequel will be about.
Well-Intended Love team succeeds again with The Romance of Hua Rong

If your mindless fun rom-com quota is feeling unfulfilled after watching all the new Christmas Hallmark movies, The Romance of Hua Rong 一夜新娘 is here to save the day. From the company and writer behind Well-Intended Love, this rom-com about a pirate and a young lady who wants to be a vigilante is fast-paced and filled with cuteness.
The female lead is super cute and reminds me of Alyssa Chia, while the male lead grows on you (a lot of people have mentioned he looks like a young Chen Daoming). Well-Intended Love supporting leads Yi Bochen and Huang Qianshuo join the cast once more as the rival love interest and the male lead’s assistant.
You can watch the drama on Youtube here. The series updates two episodes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with six extra episodes for MGTV VIP members.
Well-intended Love sequel concludes filming

The surprise hit Well-intended Love 奈何boss要娶我2 (available on Netflix) got a sequel! I didn’t know it even began filming, but filming has concluded last week. The original cast of Xu Kaicheng, Wang Shuang, Yi Bochen and Li Jiaxi will all return for the sequel, as will the director Wu Qiang. Since it’s a Sohu exclusive, you can expect it to come out fairly soon.

Xu Kaicheng is a roll with two small-budget rom-com hits, I’m a Pet at Dali Temple and this.
Sohu’s exaggerated but so-cute-you-want-to-squeal rom-coms are my guilty pleasure dramas. The latest hit, Well-intended Love 奈何boss要娶我, continues that trend. The series that reportedly is still waiting on payment for many of its staff got popular enough that its host Sohu has changed it from streaming two episodes a week to three and then four episodes per weeks after fans threw a riot.
When struggling actress Xia Lin (Wang Shuang) needs a bone marrow transplant to survive, she strikes a deal with the donor to marry him in a contract marriage in exchange for the donation. As it turns out, she hit the jackpot with Ling Yizhou (Xu Kaicheng), a wealthy, attractive businessman who is also actually really considerate and sweet. The love quad is joined by fellow actor (Yi Bochen). The male lead’s otc assistant (Huang Qianshuo) and the female lead’s over-imaginative best friend (Liu Jiaxi) also make a super cute side couple.
It’s available on Netflix here.
