Paranormal Adonis breaks the normal

Here’s hoping the reason why they have no good stills/posters is because the money was spent on a script … or at least more comfortable beds for these poor adonises and Guigui.

In its latest attempt to implement a weekly series, Hunan TV will be airing the first mainland series in a long time to have the script be written as it is airing.  Paranormal Adonis 不一样的美男子 stars Zhang Han as the titular adonis who wakes up with the ability to see into the future after an accident. The series co-stars Guigui, Fan Shiqi, M4M, Lu Chen, and Yi Yizi.

The series, which will air every Sunday beginning June 29th , so far only has 10 episodes written, and only begun filming last month in Xiamen. In addition to Paranormal Adonis,  Hunan TV is also opening a new weekly series with Legend of Ancient Sword, which will air on Wednesday and Thursdays.  I really want Hunan TV to succeed in this weekly series push because weekly series encourage more succinct but high-qualitied productions.

The first teaser for the new series:

“Incisive Great Teacher” to Air on June 4

Will the Longshi fanservice in Incisive Great Teacher cover up the bitter aftertaste left from Bu Bu Jing Qing?

If you’re like me, you’re totally bummed out at missing the first broadcast of Incisive Great Teacher (犀利仁师), which aired on a city-wide channel last month and saw all of its YouTube episode uploads wiped out within the past week. Luckily, Dragon TV has picked the drama up for a satellite airing, which will begin on June 4.

Recently, Incisive Great Teacher unveiled some new montage posters showcasing leads (and real-life couple) Nicky Wu and Liu Shishi, along with supporting cast members Huo Zhengyan, Ye Zuxin, Gui Gui, and Yue Yueli. Interestingly, on the posters, these six characters are introduced in both Chinese and English, though the font is so tiny that it’s probably more for artistic effect than for practical purposes.

Dragon TV will broadcast three episodes of Incisive Great Teacher every weekday, with Saturdays and Sundays getting two episodes apiece. More posters behind the cut, including an angsty love triangle!

The Four releases photos of the women and villains

GuiGui looking pretty as opposed to cute for the first time.

Following the spectacular male leads,  photos of the females and the villains of New The Four were released, including Zhang Junning, Bai Bing, Guigui, Jia Qing, Hao Zejia as the female leads and Qian Yonchen, Ma Wenlong, Zhou Muyin and Chen Dacheng as the villains.

Given that actors like Qian Yongchen have recently lead major dramas of their own (most significantly Yu Zheng’s The Bounty Hunter) , yet they’re playing secondary villains here, this is an impressive cast indeed. Continue reading

New “The Four” begins filming, vying for best young cast ever

Can you match the backshots with The Four and the antagonist?

I think this might be my favorite cast of lead males ever for a mainland drama.

The Four are played by a string of rising male talents –  Zhang Han, Yang Yang(male) Mao Zijun and William Chan – while Yu Zheng  leads   Mickey He, Qian Yongchen, Ma Wenlong and Zhou Muyin play the antagonists. Given that at least four of those have succesfully been leads of their own, that’s pretty amazing.

The female leads are really varied as well, starring Zhang Junning (female),  GuiGui,  Jia Qing, Bai Bing.  I’ve always thought Jia Qing was the prettiest out of all the gorgeous girls in “Schemes of Beauties,” so I’m especially excited to see her again.

Guest appearances from Tong Liya, Zheng Shuang, Han Dong, Ye Xuan, Huang Haibing, etc. I wonder if Zheng Shuang and Zhang Han will have a scene together?
