Goodbye My Princess is yet another example of the typical Chinese drama that starts off as a pretty engaging show, starts falling apart in the middle, and can barely hold itself together by the time it reaches the finish line.
Melodrama Goodbye My Princess is turning out to be a very enjoyable watch for me. Peng Xiaoran is delightful as Xiaofeng, and while Chen Xingxu struggles to deliver in some of the major emotional scenes, he does a good job bringing out the more ruthless side of Li Chengyin / Gu Xiaowu.
I have been addicted to the chorus of Goodbye My Princess’ theme song First Encounter ever since it made its debut in the third teaser, and now they’ve finally released the full version ahead of its premiere on Youku at 8pm (CN).
The 52 episode drama will release 1 episode every night, while members get a 4 episode head start. Happy Valentine’s Day, and happy watching!
Streaming site Youku recently held a press conference to promote a slew of upcoming dramas, most of which will air on the platform and TV stations this year. Links to new teasers and extended synopses (if any) are included.
