The long-awaited female-lead spy thriller 355 finally began production on the 27th. The film stars Fan Bingbing alongside Jessica Chastain, Lupita Nyong’o, Diane Kruger, and Penelope Cruz as international spies teaming up to save the world. Sebastian Stan and Edgar Ramirez play the “Bond boys” of the film.
In related news, Fan Bingbing and Li Chen announced their break-up yesterday.
355 isn’t the only film where Fan Bingbing is ready to kill. The actress finished up filming her crime thriller The Perfect Blue 她杀 this past week. The film stars Fan Bingbing, Li Qin, Xin Zhilei, and Wang Ziwen as four women, at least three of whom are suspected of a crime committed ten years ago. Huang Xuan stars once more as the only male character in major film. The film is a loose sequel to director Cao Baoping’s acclaimed (and highly recommended by me) The Dead End.
So I just figured out WordPress can embed tumblr (and that I have access to the Cfensi tumblr…) . This makes uploading photoshoots so much easier. I’ve also opened it to submissions if you want to submit your favs!
Collection of some great photoshoots by Chen Man that didn’t get their own posts, including Jing Tian’s futuristic shoot as a part of Pacific Rim promos, the rest of Yang Mi in Kyoto ,Tang Yan flirting with herself, Shu Qi fogged in mystery, and Fan Bingbing in Chinese-inspired avant garde fashion.
Fan Bingbing joins Jessica Chastain, Marion Cotillard, Penelope Cruz, and Lupita Nyong’o to launch female-led spy thriller franchise 355. The project is the brainchild of Jessica Chastain, who called each of the actresses to ask them to join in the creative process. This cast has so many of my favorite actresses, I’m not sure if I can handle all the talent.
Highlights from the article:
Kinberg said that tonally, the Bourne franchise is the touchstone, only here the agents will be women, and they will share the screen equally.
“What we can say is, they come up against an organization larger than the established spy organizations we’ve known up to this point,” said Kinberg, long the creative spine of the X-Men franchise and who’s separately writing and producing a Star Wars film. “We are hoping to create a franchise with this, and the first film will be the agents coming together.”
On a related note, Lupita Nyong’o is expected to take on Chow Yun-Fat’s role in a John Woo remake of The Killer. Hey Hollywood, this seems like a good movie to have an Asian in at least the main supporting cast (cough, Fan Bingbing, cough) .
