Guan Hu’s (Mr. Six, Candle in the Tomb) The Eight Hundred 八佰 focuses on the eight hundred Chinese soldiers who hold Shanghai’s defenses for four days against three hundred thousand Japanese troops. Starring Zhang Yi, Jiang Wu, Huang Zhizhong, Ou Hao, Wang Qianyuan and Du Chun, the film will be released on August 21st.
The remake is titled Unknown Number and stars Du Chun as the detective from 1998 who is able to communicate with a modern day profiler (Wang Tianchen) through a magical cellphone. Li Xiaoran rounds out the trio as the current-day police detective who was once the hero’s colleague.
The Tencent web drama will release 2 eps every Wed-Fri.

Love and Lost 最初的相遇,最后的别离 is an upcoming suspense romance drama starring Lin Gengxin as Yan Jin, a former anti-narcotics officer turned businessman. He joins a drug cartel as an undercover operative after clues related to a past drug trafficking case, which also took the life of his good friend, resurfaces.
For a borderline boylove drama, I can’t believe we don’t even have a photo of the two male leads together yet. Huang Xiaoming looks at the top of his game , though.
Peking opera-themed Republican drama Winter Begonia 鬓边不是海棠红 released its first full set of still today while announcing the full cast. The Yu Zheng-produced series stars Huang Xiaoming, Yin Zheng, Charmaine Sheh , Tan Jianci, Merxat, Ma Su, Bai Bing, Du Chun, Huang Shengyi, Liu Min. Gao Yu’er, Chi Shuai, and Tang Zeng.

Unknown Number 时空来电 is an adaption of the acclaimed Korean crime thriller of the same name, and has cast Du Chun as Cao Zheng, the earnest cop from the past timeline who would give his life to find out the truth.

Starring Ma Ke, Zhang Xinyu, Qiao Zhenyu, Yiyang Qianxi, Du Chun, Liu Yun, Lan Xi, Lee Hyunjae, Yin Zhusheng, Fu Yiwei, and Wang Yuelun, those looking forward to this rendition of Qu Yuan‘s story in preparation for the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival can finally check it out.
