Tian Liang, Li Xiaopeng, Li Na, Lin Dan, Zhou Jihong to head “Splash”

“I jump, you jump. ” – actual words Tian Liang used to convince Twins to jump. Except this time, the male’s probably the one to survive.

What other show would have divers Tian Liang and Li Na as the the coaches, gymnast Li Xiaopeng and diver Zhou Jihong as the judges, and badminton player Lin Dan* as a guest?  That’s a total of fourteen Olympic medals, not to mention the fact that since Zhou Jihong is responsible for all of China’s diving medals as the head coach of the Chinese diving coach since the 2000 Olympics.

“Spash 中国星跳跃,” one of the two celebrity diving shows airing this week, will  also feature Charlene Choi, who was going to do a synchronised dive with fellow Twins member Gillian Chung before Gillian had to pull out because of a heart condition, philanthropist Chen Guangbiao, actress Eva Huang Shengyi, actor Gao Hu, actress  Liu Xinyu (BuBuJingXin), actor  Shi Xiaolong, singer Chae Yeon, singer Xuan Zi, etc.

Watch Tian Liang’s ad for “Splash” below.

*unconfirmed, but not unlikely since the gymnastics-diving-badminton teams are managed by the same company, a seed company of Li-Ning that’s headed by the now-retired Li Xiaopeng.

The 12th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) Opens

Cast of Sophie's Revenge working the red carpet.

This is one of the two A-List film festivals in Asia, the other being Tokyo. Despite starting late (1993), organizers have been working hard to make this as prestigious as possible, a subjective measure, and it does seem to be a step up from last year with Danny Boyle heading the jury, and various other stars walking the red carpet. I’m sure you’ve seen a lot of these pictures already, sorry for the lateness! I’ll post on the SIFF again later.

Popularity by the numbers

What’s the most fair way to count popularity?
Baidu, mainland’s biggest search engine, thinks it’s by search results.
On the 20th, Baidu held its 3rd annual Hunan TV-Baidu Search Awards at the Water Cube.
CFensi brings you some of the best performances and speeches from the H3O.

Vicki Zhao Wei – Most popular actress; upon viewing a video summary of her ten years as an actress:

My greatest reward is that I found the meaning to my life. I think living in this world, everyone has a purpose in their lives, be it the the feeling of parents to their child or a doctor to his patients. In these ten years, I found the value in my life. Although my purpose is not as amazing as that of a scientist, but I think my life was a worthwhile one.

Chen Kun – most popular male actor

Actually, I’m late to mature. I always thought that I should act in roles that I want to, like in Mei Lan Fang, but unfortuantely I missed it. I realized that in life, there are other roles we must act as. Thank you to everyone who has supported me to this day. Whether you’re a fan of my acting, singing, or you’re just someone who silently supports me, I hope you’ll continue to support me. I’ll do my best for you guys, because I learned to enjoy my profession now.

Charlene performing an Indian dance as a guest performer on Sunday's episode of "Just Shake it."

On the “Just Shake It” episode aired on the 14th, Charlene stated that “Twins is a spirit, an inextinquishable group, and will always exist!”

When the conversation went to Gillian, Charlene smiled, “Gillian’s taking a vacation right now…. she’s studing martial arts, singing and dancing on the side. She’s a very optimistic girl.”

Charlene also says that Gillian “isn’t as fragile as everyone thinks.”

Chinese Celebrities When They Were Young

I said I would do a special fun post in exchange for someone making my banner when site hit 10,000. Well, here it is as promised, although nobody ever made me a banner. :( This is still incomplete…I don’t have a few people in here, and I wanted to put an after pic of everyone, but I got way too tired of that so I only put some for some people I didn’t think people would know (like all the mainland guys apparently), but eventually I will update this and make it the most comprehensive Chinese celeb baby picture list ever.

Love or hate her, you’ve got to admit Liu Yifei was one of the most adorable children ever.

More of cute adorable children behind the cut. I think it’s really rare for Chinese people to do plastic surgery (as of now) so this won’t be one of those “spot the differences” posts. This took a lot of time and effort to put together, so PLEASE DO NOT COPY AND POST ANYWHERE ELSE, w/o permission.

Fahrenheit Supports Wu Zun’s New Movie

They were at the Taiwan premiere of the movie, and got to watch Wu Zun feed Charlene. Calvin, as you can see, may have realized his hair is simply not acceptable in public and has begun wearing a hat.

Also the article I found this from had a very interesting comment, paraphrased here: “Recently in Taiwan there’s been a trend relating stripping to good ratings, and all want to see Zun strip however Zun firmly stated that he will not strip, and does not wish to follow this trend.”

I’m sure Charlene would look a lot happier in this publicity still if you had actually meant that.
