Hunan TV takes up foreign diplomacy

chinesebridge
If only the distribution of Hunan TV's viewers was like this.

After taking over entertainment from CCTV, Hunan TV seems to also be gaining increasing responsibility in foreign affairs in the TV world as it hosts everything from the CCP-KMT party forum to Chinese competitions for foreigners.

First up is the more entertaining competition. Chinese Bridge is a collaboration with the Chinese national Hanban committee. The preliminaries are hosted in various countries around the world, with the top winners going on Hunan TV for the finals, where they’ll make many Chinese ashamed at their lack knowledge of their own culture. Present at the opening ceremony of Chinese Bridge are , of course, the five boys who bridged cpop and  kpop and the four boys who hopefully will do even more for bridging Chinese entertainment and the rest of the world.

Mystery singer duets with Aska Yang

My Sun ft Aska Yang:

Cong Haonan, the mystery Huayi singer mentioned earlier, released a MV with Aska Yang this week. Cong Haonan comes from Jiangsu TV’s singing competition Jue Dui Chang Xiang. This year, Jue Dui Chang Xiang is endorsed by Sprite, Gold Typhoon and Jay Chou, which makes it the safer alternative to those suffering from the eeMedia scare caused by Chen Chusheng and He JieZhou Junwu as well as for the males aren’t brave enough to dress up as girls to compete in Super Girls.

Cong Haonan is also affiliated with the Sichuan Conservatory of Music (along with Ma Xueyang, Alan, Li Yuchun,Tan Weiwei, He Jie, Wei Chen, etc.). Actually, half of the top eight of Jue Dui Chang Xiang were from there. Jue Dui Chang Xiang also manages to get around SARFT rules by bring back the top 10 for a separate show after they’ve signed with companies. The new show is no longer a competition show and thus can air anytime with any length and text message votes. (more…)

Can you solve these two mysteries?

Huayi Music has announced that it would sign a new male artist who is an already famous competition(?) winner. This time, they decided to show off his voice before revealing his name. The choices given in the official guessing game are Shin, Jam Hsiao, Yoga Lin and Aska Yang.  From the choices given, Shin and Aska Yang are more likely since Shin has worked with BOBO before and Aska Yang has been trying to leave his old company. Of the four, it also sounds most like Aska Yang. But on second thought, it sounds like Allen Su without his signature style.

Can you guess who’s the lucky man to join Jane Zhang and Laure Shang’s company?
