The Four 3 releases trailer

LIu Yifei’s character is called Heartless, by the way. You can add this image to your collection of ironic pictures.

The Four 3, the final installment to the film series, has released a trailer as well as announced its release date on August 22.  Starring Deng Chao (Cold Blooded), Liu Yifei Heartless), Collin Chou (the hot-blooded “Iron Hand”), Ronald Cheng (whose role Life Snatcher was previously held by “hotties” like Wallace Chung and Peter Ho), Anthony Wong, Jiang Yiyan, Alec Su, Wu Yingjie and Bao Bei’er, this film picks up from the abrupt and tragic end of the previous.  Presumably, it will bring to a close all the untied ends from the last two films with flurry of CGI.

Painted Skin’s director returns for another magical wuxia film with gloomy tones.

Painted Skin’s director returns for another magical wuxia film with gloomy tones.

Even if the CDC knows of no zombie viruses, zombies are everywhere in the news and media. Next month, they’re even making their appearance in ancient China in Gordon Chan’s The Four. Starring Deng Chao, Liu Yifei, Colin Chou, Anthony Wong, Ronald Cheng and Jiang Yiyan, The Four is a detective-wuxia action flick loosely based on the book of the same name. The change of gender for Heartless may mean that bird girl Heartless ( Liu Yifei ) and wolf boy Cold Blood (Deng Chao) also have a romantic relationship somehow .

The sequel’s already been approved for filming.

The 12th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) Opens

Cast of Sophie's Revenge working the red carpet.

This is one of the two A-List film festivals in Asia, the other being Tokyo. Despite starting late (1993), organizers have been working hard to make this as prestigious as possible, a subjective measure, and it does seem to be a step up from last year with Danny Boyle heading the jury, and various other stars walking the red carpet. I’m sure you’ve seen a lot of these pictures already, sorry for the lateness! I’ll post on the SIFF again later.

The 62nd Cannes Film Festival Comes to a Close

The Cannes Jury, including Shu Qi. They will announce the winner of the Palme d'Or on Sunday, which I'll update the post with.

The 62nd Cannes Film Festival has four films competing that have directors from the Greater China region, as well as one grand jury member and a short film jury member. There was also one Chinese actress who was supposed to be making one of her first appearances in a film after five years of inactivity, but some hack named Tarantino had to make a cut and his film Inglorious Basterds will be all the lesser for the lack of Maggie Cheung, no matter what excuses he gives. Have a litle foresight before you ask someone of her caliber to cameo next time, jerk.

Chinese Celebrities When They Were Young

I said I would do a special fun post in exchange for someone making my banner when site hit 10,000. Well, here it is as promised, although nobody ever made me a banner. :( This is still incomplete…I don’t have a few people in here, and I wanted to put an after pic of everyone, but I got way too tired of that so I only put some for some people I didn’t think people would know (like all the mainland guys apparently), but eventually I will update this and make it the most comprehensive Chinese celeb baby picture list ever.

Love or hate her, you’ve got to admit Liu Yifei was one of the most adorable children ever.

More of cute adorable children behind the cut. I think it’s really rare for Chinese people to do plastic surgery (as of now) so this won’t be one of those “spot the differences” posts. This took a lot of time and effort to put together, so PLEASE DO NOT COPY AND POST ANYWHERE ELSE, w/o permission.
