Seriously Rocket Girls might have the best song quality for a Chinese girlband since S.H.E. and Twins? I don’t think they’ve had a bad group song yet, and a couple of their solo songs are really beautiful. This latest one probably has my favorite song-MV combination. Light is still my favorite song.
Gen Neo collabs with ex-miss A member Fei for this rnb duet:
S.H.E.’s anniversary MV is so moving it made me cry. It tells of their journey through a subway ride, from the moment they said goodbye to their families to embark on this journey to them splitting off but still supporting each other through their marriages and pregnancy and divorce. The song is written by Wu Tsing-fong of Sodagreen.
Awaken-F’s summer photoshoot
Thanks to variety shoes Idol Producer and 101 , there’s once more popular boybands and girls outside of TF boys again. Here are some recent MV’s from some of the bigger ones, including Rocket Girls, NEXT, Awaken-F, Sing girlband, and a few solos from Nine Percent and M.I.C. boyband. .
On the girl group side, Chinese-styled EDM group released their latest single Night of Music 夜笙歌 with inspirations from Southeast China. I wish they would release a MV for “Accidentally Time-travelled to Ancient Times一不小心到古代” because that’s probably my favorite song from them after 寄明月.
Pop soul artist Tia Ray’s best MV so far from her new album
Meng Jia’s MV for “Free” is so beautiful it looks like a giant tourism ad for Dunhuang/Jiayuguan.
Queens-native Miss Ko and Malaysian-Australian Kimberley Chen duet in this heartfelt song about how home is where the heart is.
Probably going for the Miao Beyoncé look.
Singer Aduo combines Miao and Hunanese elements with Western fashion, music, and modern dance in the eponymous MV for her stunning new album, Reborn.
Updates of LI Yuchun’s best music for
leg day Music Monday
Some Chris Lee / Li Yuchun MV’s from her latest album and imo her best performance yet of her last album. I love how much Mahjong and Hotpot appears in all her photoshoots and MV’s lately.
Ever since Seven Sense, I’ve been waiting for a good zhongguofeng boyband, and the debut of Assassins / Men With Swords 刺客团 delivered. The MV-song combo is easily one of my favorites from a Chinese idol group in a long time. The zhongguofeng elements work well within the music arrangement and MV without seeming dated, something even Seven Sense couldn’t do this well.
Delicious 舌尖美味 is written by the members Li Wen, Wang Yaochen, Ruan Zeyi, Fang Yifei (names in order of solo parts in the song).
