Flashback: Endless Love

“From the moment I met you, I knew I would love you for a lifetime. Not for all of your life, but all of mine.”                     – Endless Love

Even after twenty years, people are still trying to diagnose everyone in Endless Love 天若有情. From kleptomania to borderline pedophilia to open cheating and medical malpractive, everyone in the show has so many issues that even their resident therapist needs help.

With a super tight script full of quotable conversations, dimensional and flawed characters, a stellar cast  –  Dong Jie, Cha In-pyo (the Korean actor actually spoke Chinese during filming),  Jerry Huang  — and a surprisingly nuanced take on plenty of controversial issues, the series remains a stable in the “remember when Chinese dramas still could do this”  conversations. You can watch it on Youku here.

Nineteen-year-old kleptomaniac Zhan Yan (Dong Jie) has been in love with her legal guardian (Cha In-pyo) since she first met him at the age of ten. Before then, she had been abused by her ascetic grandmother and had been stealing for the thrill.  When her guardianship is transferred to the male lead after her grandmother passed away, she begins to steal things from the mall he owns to gain his attention. A New Meteor Garden, a new F4 cast

Yes, it’s that time again. Welcome to another version of one of the most adapted mangas in Asia – Hana Yori Dango / Boys Over Flowers / Meteor Garden .

Helmed by producer Angie Chai of the original Meteor Garden,  New Meteor Garden 新流星花园  recently announced its cast of the four male leads, members of the clique F4.  There’s no news on who’s who yet.  The four male leads – Connor Leong, Dylan Wang Hedi, Darren Chen, and Caesar Wu Xize  – average 21 years old and are all fairly new actors. The female lead is Shen Yue, whose first major drama is only airing this week.

Will the new cast get instant famous like every other cast so far?

Female lead is played by 20-year-old Shen Yue in her second major role.

Music Monday: Cutest of Xianzi

What Did I See In You 看走眼 is the last of Xianzi’ adorable MV’s, a surprisingly chirpy song scolding her playboy boyfriend (who irl is her husband’s former roommate).

Here’s a throwback to singer Xianzi, known for her distinct vocals and cute songs back at the peak of Taiwanese mandopop.   The Guangxi native has since then moved back to the mainland and got married to ex-Top Combine member Li Mao . Unfortunately she now seems to mostly be singing boring Tan Xuan OST’s.

Watch Hebe Tian, Jing Boran as Beauty and the Beast

Watch Hebe Tian and Jing Boran in their rendition of the classic Beauty and the Beast theme song for the upcoming live-action film. The translations are very non-literal and almost sounds more like a translation of Sun and Moon, but at least they both look gorgeous.  Also, if you haven’t heard, Disney’s live-action Mulan is set for a Nov. 2018 release date and is expected to begin filming in April. No news on Sony’s version yet.

Justice Bao stills

The color schemes are a bit too flashy for my tastes…

Justice Bao 包青天 has more stills today.  Starring Li DongxueGao JunxianZhang ZhixiKenneth Tsang, and Liu Qianhan, Bao Zheng seems to be getting a lot of attention in the drama realm lately.

More below the cut.
