Good news for Guofu shippers – Chen Xiao and Mao Xiaotong, who played Yang Guo and Guo Fu in Romance of the Condor Heroes 2013, will be playing the leads in iQiyi’s wuxia drama The Ingenious One 云襄传 (also the drama at the centre of the script re-edit controversy in showbiz drama We Are All Alone).

Chen Xiao plays Yunxiang, a swordsman who acts like a frivolous playboy but is actually an astute strategist who believes he should use his skills for the greater good. Mao Xiaotong costars as the hero’s love interest Shu Yanan / Kou Lianyi, a ruthless martial artist who initially approaches him with an ulterior motive.

Based on the new wuxia serial Qianmen by Fang Baiyu, the drama is directed by You Dazhi (Secret of the Three Kingdoms) and written by Liang Zhenghua’s team (Storm Eye, We Are All Alone).
