Republican Era dramas The Love Never Lost, The National Southwest Associated University and Us release stills

The National Southwest Associated University and Us – Wang Hedi

Two upcoming late-Republican/Pre-revolution dramas, The National Southwest Associated University and Us with Wang Hedi and Zhou Ye, and A Love Never Lost with Li Xian and Chun Xia, have both recently released stills.

It’s pretty rare to use popular young actors for this period, but the casting for both seem spot-on . Wang Hedi and Zhou Ye look perfect for the wide-eyed university students of the era, and Li Xian and Chun Xia are both very solid actors who can blend flawlessly into the era. Plus, this is Hong Kong Film Awards Best Actress Chun Xia’s first leading drama role, so I’m actually really interested in the two projects. Whose stills makes you want to watch their dramas?

Also, can we talk about how pretty all the costumes and stills for The National Southwest Associated University and Us have been so far?

  1. I’ve been interested in ‘A Love Never Lost’ since Day 1 and more so when I found out Zhang Yong was going to join Jiang Qitao in the scriptwriting team– and she wrote ‘The Disguiser‘, which I loved. I’m very excited, to say the least.

As for ‘The National Southwest Associated University and Us’, I might give it a go when it airs because yes, I agree– the costumes do look very nice. Though I’ve always had a soft spot for the costumes of the Republican period.

Speaking of Republican, is ‘A Love Never Lost’ going to cover the same decade as ‘University and Us’? I didn’t think ‘A Love’ was going to span that far of a time period.

  2. Sorry, it’s been a while since I’ve used wordpress… I’ve been trying to comment on this blog post but my comments keep encountering a 409 error or some other problem. I thought that perhaps the reply was too long so I’ve separated the comments into three parts but only the last part went through… I also can’t remember how to delete a comment (re the ‘testing’ comment)

    • I’ve submitted the whole comment now, sans Chinese characters. That seemed to be the issue, though I don’t remember having trouble with that in the past. Still can’t remember how to delete old comments so I do apologise for the constant comments/notifications.
