Almost all dramas, films have paused or delayed filming due to the coronavirus

As of today, all dramas filming at Hengdian, Xiangshan, Wuxi, and Shanghai Chedun Studios have stopped filming. This means almost all period dramas, such as Zhao Liying and Wang Yibo’s Legend of Fei and Yang Zi and Kris Wu’s The Golden Hairpin, have paused filming. In addition, many dramas filming outside these places have announced a pause, including Wang Kai’s Like a Flowing River, Yang Mi and Bai Yu’s Thank You Doctor, and Zhang Xincheng’s The Corridor Pavilion. Other dramas set to begin filming have also been delayed indefinitely. Hopefully, things will get better in two weeks and they’ll be able to get to work again.

Flashback: Chinese Paladin

It’s been exactly 15 years since Chinese Paladin first aired, and the series has remained my favourite xianxia drama ever since.

A flashback series of photos of Chinese Paladin 仙剑奇侠传 featuring Hu Ge, Liu Yifei, Ady An, Esther Liu, Bryan Wong, Eddie Peng and Tse Kwanho among others. Unlike many of the recent xianxia / 仙侠 dramas that focus solely on the romance or fantasy aspect and forgo the equally important code of chilvalry (侠), this one had equal parts romance, adventure and friendship.

Ah Sang’s Always Very Quiet, my favourite song from the soundtrack.

Early Friday Photos: All Chinese New Year films that are now delayed

This photoshoot was scheduled to feature photoshoots and posters promoting this year’s Chinese New Year films, but they have now all been delayed indefinitely due to the coronavirus. This includes a return of almost 1 billion (1000 million) RMB in ticket presales in what was hoping to be the biggest Chinese New Year box office in history.

Keep safe, everyone!
