The Chinese Pilot 中国机长 is based on the emergency landing of a Sichuan Airlines aircraft on its way to Lhasa, and stars Zhang Hanyu as the heroic pilot who safely lands the plane at Chengdu Airport. Ou Hao, Du Jiang, Yuan Quan, Zhang Tian’ai and Li Qin costar as crew members.

Bona Film Group (Operation Mekong, Operation Red Sea) is no stranger to producing films appealing to patriotism, and most of the time their stories also tend to be more interesting than propaganda films. Like Operation Mekong and Operation Red Sea, while the film has no direct government investment, it was made with support from the related departments. In this case, the Civil Aviation Administration in exchange for filming consultation and set use (FYI this is commonly done in Hollywood ). Directed by Andrew Lau (Infernal Affairs, The Founding of An Army), the film is set to hit theatres on September 30th.
