Ma Yili will solve 15 murder mysteries as hopefully a Chinese flapper .

Ma Yili (The First Half of My Life) and Gao Weiguang (Candle in the Tomb: The Wrath of Time) star in either the Chinese remake of Australian murder mystery series Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries (based on the books by Kerry Greenwood).  Ma Yili plays Su Wenli, a wealthy private detective in Republican China who solves all sorts of mysteries with the help of her maid, assistant, butler, and her best friend, a medical doctor. She’s joined by detective Luo Qiuheng (Gao Weiguang), who at first finds her behavior off-putting but eventually grow to admire her independence and wits.

Titled Miss S 爱思小姐探案集 , the series will initially feature 15 mysteries, but I’m guessing they’re hoping for a sequel if it does well. The series will be directed by Deng Ke (Seven Versions of Myself ) and produced by Tencent Entertainment.

  1. Hmm… wonder if they’ll retain controversial characteristics of certain characters… And will the new “Phryne” take a western lover (to replace the original’s Chinese lover?) If it’s only 15 episodes, they won’t have time
