The Lost Tomb Reboot 盗墓笔记重启之极海听雷 announced that Zhu Yilong (The Story of Minglan) would be playing Wu Xie back in August, and has now confirmed new actor Huang Junjie (Unexpected, Fox in the Screen) as Zhang Qiling.
The story begins ten years after the events of the last book in the series, and focuses on their adventurous journey as they seek to unravel the mystery behind.
Wang Pangzi is played by Chen Minghao, who is reprising his role from this year’s Tomb of the Sea, the only Lost Tomb adaption that wasn’t widely panned by viewers and critics alike. Costars include Hu Jun as Wu Xie’s uncle, Baron Chen (Fights Break Sphere) as Black Glasses and Huang Mengying (TLTWTMPB) as Mute Girl.
Scripted by original author Nanpai Sanshu (Xu Lei) and directed by Pan Anzi (The Palace movie), the ~70 episode web drama is planning to stream on Youku in the Summer.
how come there are so many remakes of the Candle in the tomb series… i watched the one with Chen Qiao En and it ended on a bit of a cliffhanger but there’s no sequel, just a bunch of new shows??
Though they’re both about grave robbers, The Lost Tomb and Candle in the Tomb are based on different novel series. Each adaption is based on a different novel in the series, and actors usually don’t reprise their roles unless they’ve signed on for several seasons (i.e. Ode to Joy).
ahhh ok, understood! Seems like some of the other adaptations have alot of fans so I’ll go check them out…
I don’t know how I feel about this. On the one hand, I hated the first so much I didn’t finish the first episode. But I really liked the casting of Tang Yan and Yang Yang. And this one, ten years after the last book in the series… Things Asian Press didn’t finish translating the series… 😭😭😭

OMG, you don’t know how excited I am! This is my most anticipated drama of 2019. I pray it doesn’t suck. I’m not asking much. It only needs to be ToS level quality to make me happy.
